Marc Edwards is a male escort in Sin City. He’s used to being into whatever his clients are into, and doing everything they fantasize about. He’s also used to keeping parts of himself from the people closest to him, and denying himself what he truly wants.
He gains a client who’s unlike any other client he’s had. Nathalia LaBelle actually tries to get to know non-escort Marc. She wants to find out what it is he fantasizes about, and isn’t bothered by the nature of his job.
Has Marc found someone to open up to? Will Nathalia be able to handle what he desires? What he craves? Lines begin to blur, and Marc struggles knowing a relationship with a client is something that can’t happen.
But what happens when Lincoln Cash, a man who has his own special relationship with Nathalia, comes into the picture with his own desires, rules, and sinful requests? Will they be able to get on the same page, or will mistrust run rampant and ruin everybody’s chances at getting what they want?
Author’s Note:
This novel contains M/M, M/F/M, M/F, M/M/F scenes. If any of those kinds of sex scenes bother you, I wouldn’t suggest reading this one. This novel also contains explicit language, and some mild sadomasochism.  Nothing too extreme, just kinky. Meant for readers over 18.
Author’s Note Pt. 2
While this is book three in The Escort Series, it can be read as a standalone. There is no need to read Living in Sin and Unforgivable Sin first, as this one starts in the time that Living in Sin did, and then follows through the series without giving much away about the first two. You may get some information regarding the other stories, but not much. Marc was scarce in those books, and we now get to see what he was up to.
Excerpt #1

“How are you, Lincoln?”
“I’m well. How have you been?”
“I’ve been good, just a little busy.”
“Well, let me take you out to dinner tonight.”
“I have plans tonight, Lincoln. I’m sorry.”
“Oh, well, how about tomorrow night?” he asks, unperturbed.
“I also have plans for tomorrow night.”
“Hmm,” he grunts. “Is this new guy the one taking up all of your time?”
“I’m not really sure why that’s any of your business.”
“You know why.”
“Lincoln, we’ve discussed this before. Any reason why we aren’t anything is because of you.”
“But that could be changing now, don’t you think?”
“I don’t know yet.”
“Nathalia, you know I want you, and I know you want me too.”
“We’ve tried.” I rub my hand across my forehead.
“We only tried once and it didn’t work out because we didn’t agree on…”
“I know why it didn’t work!” I snap, cutting him off.
“I think we can both agree now, though.”
I can almost hear him smile through the phone.
“I think we both know it takes more than just us to agree.”
“I do,” he states firmly.
There’s a brief moment of silence as we both wait for the other to say something.
“I have to go, Lincoln.”
“I expect to hear from you later.”
“Don’t expect to hear what you want to hear.”
His deep laugh rumbles through the phone. “Oh, Nathalia. I always hear what I want to hear. Sometimes it just takes longer than I’d like it to. This will work, my darling. Just you wait and see. When it does happen, both of our fantasies will become reality. Isn’t that what you want?”
I take a deep breath and blow it out loudly. “You know it is.”
“Good. I’ll speak to you soon. Enjoy your evening.”
He hangs up before I can respond.
Excerpt #2
With my vision partially blocked, I can’t see what Marc is holding in his hand because he’s keeping it fairly low. From all the objects he showed me moments before, I’d be happy with any of them. My body thrums with anticipation, and excitement shoots through my veins. I’ve been begging him to give me all of him for a while now. Perhaps he was too concerned about scaring me off, but I don’t think he realizes how much I love the pleasure and pain combination. I think he’s still stuck in escort mode, thinking he could cross a line with a client and get in trouble.
My body is begging for him to touch me. I can’t keep still, even with my arms and legs strapped down. I squirm, wanting his hands all over me.

An inheritance brought him more than he ever could have imagined…

Reno Marks, one of the new owners of the Scandals Investigation Agency, is first on the case to help Jennifer Caldwell find her missing sister, Angie. It’s not that he’s anxious to help so much as it is that he is attracted to Jenny. A little research shows that Angie has run off for a quickie vacation with her new boyfriend. Reno and Jenny’s romantic evening is cut short when that new boyfriend, who just happens to be the son of a powerful drug lord, arrives on Jenny’s doorstep with near-fatal gunshot wounds and evidence that Angie has been taken hostage by a rival Mexican drug cartel.

With the help of a rogue DEA agent, Reno and Jenny set off to infiltrate the cartel’s desert compound and bring Angie home. Their mission quickly gets out of control as they are discovered and chased through a tunnel system that threatens to bury them alive. Even when they think they’re safe, they’re actually trespassing in an even more dangerous place where everyone wants them dead.

During their intense time together, Reno’s feelings for Jenny have grown, but even if they are able to survive, is it possible for these two lost souls to have a future together?

Reno, whose last job had been as a magician in Vegas, doesn’t have enough tricks up his sleeve to save them…or to convince Jenny to stay.

excerpt

My phone alarm went off at 9:30. I had left myself little time to get ready before Nick’s appointment, but I needed the sleep more than I needed to shave. Besides, most women like a little stubble. Hopefully, it would prove irresistible to Jenny.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect today. Should I go wake her up with a kiss? Or maybe more? I was at the top of my game now…rested and ready to go the distance. We could be a few minutes late.

I brushed my teeth and dressed, then spent a few minutes getting my hair just right. I wasn’t girly about it, but I liked my hair to have just the right level of planned casualness…a sort of tousled effect. I stared critically at my image in the mirror. My hair was thick and such a dark shade of brown that it looked black. It wasn’t short, but not really long, partially covering my ears and almost to the collar of my t-shirt.

It was my eyes that were my most striking feature. They were a startling light blue, almost the color of those crystal blue ice cliffs in Alaska. I had always thought they were unique…until I met Killeen, Tulsa, Liberty and Dallas. Apparently, it was the one physical feature we had all inherited from Roger…and it was the identifier that had confirmed our place in this unusual family of ours.

My face wasn’t GQ elegant like Dallas’, but I had been told by plenty of women…and a few men…that it was more ruggedly handsome with square jaws and a nose that had just the smallest bump that I had earned in a fight with one of my mother’s “dates”. He and I had disagreed on whether or not he had the right to hit my mother. It had been the first time I had faced my own mortality. I knew if I didn’t give it all I had that he would beat me senseless or maybe even to death. So, I’d walked away with a broken nose while he had a bloodied eye, missing teeth, a couple broken ribs…and a quick exit out our front door.

I really thought Mom would be grateful, but she lit into me about running off her boyfriend. It had been my first lesson in how much I didn’t know about women.

I gave my hair one last flick, then went next door to Jenny’s room. I knocked gently, expecting her to still be asleep. When the door pulled open, and I saw her, completely dressed and wide awake, I struggled to hide my disappointment. “You look rested. Dylan must have left you alone.”

“I fell asleep as soon as I got to bed, and I don’t think I moved at all,” she told me. “I don’t usually get more than five or six hours of sleep a night.”

I was standing just outside her door, and she motioned me to come in.

“I need to talk to you for a second,” she continued.

Of course, I assumed this was an invitation to pick up on our make-out session, so I stepped inside, trying not to look as eager as I felt.

She sucked in a deep breath and continued, “Yesterday night…before Miguel showed up…was…”

I waited. Fantastic. Amazing. Exciting. I tried to guess the word she would use.

“…a mistake,” she stated. “I can’t blame it on those lemonade things because by the time we…uh…you know…I was completely sober.” She gave me an apologetic smile that was really more of a grimace. “I think I was just lonely. I hope you didn’t read too much into it.”

“Me? Nah…it was one of those spur-of-the-moment things.” That was what came out of my mouth, but inside my head, it was what the fuck?

Her face relaxed with relief. “Oh, good. I was afraid this would be awkward. Don’t take this wrong, but you’re not really my type. I’m more into the clean-cut, preppie types, and you’re…well…sort of wild and have all the show biz stuff going on.”

“Sure, I get it.” But I didn’t get it at all. She had stolen my line. Jenny wasn’t my type. She wore her hair too short, she had never experienced life outside of Austin and she was too much of a workaholic. The twinkle in her eyes, the perfect voluptuous body and the tempting curve of her lips had temporarily distracted me.

“Whew!” I said with pretended gratitude. “I’m glad we got that settled.” I glanced at the door, as anxious to escape as I had been to knock on it just a few minutes ago. “I think I smell breakfast. John’s an amazing cook.”

“Good. I’m starving.”

She brushed past me and headed down the hallway. I followed, but I felt like I had just been hit by a truck. That wasn’t at all the way I had expected today to go.

excerpt

“No,” I said feeling more of his warm cum seeping out of me. I moved away from him to get to the bathroom, but he seized my hand and pulled me back. He then placed his hands on either side of my face and made me look at him.

“I’m a greedy man Addie. Once I have what I want, I want more of it and you are what I want. My need for you is a lot greater than you know.” His deep voice reverberated inside me, as I stood there thoroughly fucked by Daimon. I tried to move my face but he held on.

“Haven’t you realized it yet? You don’t hesitate anymore. You want my touch. You want this. So why can’t you just let it happen?” he bit out.

“Because I hate you,” I snapped. “I hate how much you pull me into your world. I hate how much I seek it out now!” I cried out.

“Is it that bad? Being pulled in by me? Why can’t you just let it happen? Why do you need to fight what’s between us?” he said roughly.

“Because I can’t!” I fired back.

“Why?” he demanded.

“Because I’m scared. I’m scared of you, of me, of us,” I shouted.

Daimon finally released me from his hold. I pulled down my skirt and headed away to the bathroom. I closed the door, wanting to sever what was happening between us.

Author: Michele Renae
Genre: Erotic Romance
Release Date: August 1, 2014
Hosted by: Book Enthusiast Promotions

Synopsis

Now get all three stories in the Paris Secrets trilogy in one volume! Included are WINDOW, SCREEN, and the exciting conclusion SKIN.

WINDOW: The first time she sees her new neighbor, his sexy smile arouses her curiosity—and her desires. His hard, chiseled muscles and playful invitations are irresistible. Bared before their windows, framed and displayed above the streets of Paris, they embark upon a provocative affair.

Their daring game of exhibitionism lures her back for more and more, and she quickly realizes he is the man she has dreamed about.

Yet she’s never heard his voice. Never felt his touch. Never thought she’d experience something this exquisite.

Or this bold…

SCREEN: She fell willingly, seduced by the erotic foreignness of all that he was. Words can be more powerful than touch. Stimulate and engage the senses, then watch what happens…

They began a daring affair a few weeks ago, baring skin, sensual secrets—their very souls—before their bedroom windows, situated across the street from one another. Now they’ve taken it to the next level. The laptop screen has added sound to their intimate liaisons, and his voice, that delicious French accent, is oh, so sexy. His laughter teases good shivers across her skin, and his sensual commands seduce her deeper into a world of erotic play. Fantasies lure them into a new intimacy and a surprising trust that the two strangers who have never touched welcome.

Yet frustrations grow as she pines for his touch. They must meet. Soon. But a secret is revealed that will challenge their desires and the trust both have earned.

SKIN: Are you ready for two bodies to collide in an irresistible crush of desire? They’ve experimented with sight, voice, and trust in their inventive sexual romps that began as a flirtatious affair before a window and advanced to provocative cyber sex. He fell in love with her. She is still waiting for his touch.

Exquisite. Bold. Gorgeous. Those are the words that lured her into the Frenchman’s heart. She is the American woman who has learned to set her inner vixen free, and he is the handsome and light-hearted Monsieur Sexy.

Finally the lovers abandon their apprehensions and come together. All senses are engaged, including the delicious glide of his masterful hands over her skin. A dashing musketeer, black velvet Louboutins, and Da Vinci’s mysterious Mona Lisa all become a part of their liaisons. It is easy to fall into a trusting relationship that feels as if it were meant to be.

But there are yet challenges that will try their connection and which will force them to decide, once and for all, if they were meant for one another…

…or if secrets will break them apart.

excerpt

I pulled aside the sheer and attempted to engage x-ray vision to see through his curtains. The way the night muted the window I couldn’t see well, though if the curtain were open his light would reveal the interior of his bedroom as if it were a diorama lit up at a museum.

When the curtains suddenly parted, I panicked and almost slammed the sheers shut, yet made the save by raising my glass in a silent toast.

“Just your friendly peeping Jane,” I muttered. “Can’t sleep?” I wondered.

The man held up a glass of milk and rubbed his eyes in the universal signal of sleeplessness.

I lifted my glass in another toast, and he matched it. We drank our respective libations. If a girl could get drunk off water, it was going to happen when the view was so tantalizing.

He leaned a shoulder against the window, brazenly unselfconscious of the fact that he stood in only his boxer briefs—that emphasized his package nicely. Or maybe he was aware and wanted me to take a good long look.

I did. And I wished it was my birthday. Or Christmas. This Catholic chick would even settle for Hanukah at this point. Right now any reason to open a package was good by me. As I assessed the abundant gift displayed behind glass and cotton, it hardened noticeably, forming a nice firm bulge that angled toward his hip. It must serve a good handful for him.

I sucked in my lower lip.

Call it lack of sleep. Call it needing to get laid more often than the once every month or so rotation I’d been on lately. Call it…fascinated by his soft, sexy smile that twinkled in his eyes, and that extremely enticing, hard, huge package.

He winked at me.

My heartbeats stopped for a full ten seconds. Count out ten seconds. That is one hell of a long time. His sexy wink stole away my breath and threatened to keep it from me. His regard glided over my heart, stunning it still with a powerful beguilement spell.

Smirking, I resumed breathing. Arousal tended to make me breathe faster. My heartbeats kicked back into gear, though a little faster and lighter now, like butterflies beating the airstream that encircled the universe.

Touching the empty water glass to my lips, I dipped a lash flutter at him. I wasn’t an expert in flirtation, but I’d read books, and had actually researched different forms of kissing for a romance novelist. I pointed at him, and gave him the thumbs up sign.

He lowered his head in an embarrassed shrug. A few dark curls spilled over his ear, and he brushed them back. Could the man be any cuter?

Setting his glass of milk on a marble-topped dresser across from the end of his bed, he then put his forearm to the window and propped his palm against a temple. His gaze sought mine and I let him have the connection. Or was it my soul he’d connected to? Could souls flutter?

No, wait. I was getting ahead of myself. It was just a look shared between two people who stood, scantily clad, in their respective windows. No soul mating going on here, folks. Move along. No pictures allowed behind this line.

What he did next was to be my undoing. I just wouldn’t know it for months to come. He pointed to me, holding the gesture for a few seconds…then, he made a motion of slipping the robe from my shoulder.

Eyebrow lifting, I defied him with a tilt of my head. My slightly-longer-than-shoulder-length hair spilled off one shoulder. Cheeky of him. Very forward. I wasn’t that kind of girl.

But right now I needed to be that kind of girl more than I needed to breathe.

He shrugged and splayed his palms in a ‘what can I say?’ gesture.

And for some reason, maybe lack of sleep, or glue-induced insanity, I tapped into the vixen I knew existed somewhere inside me. That part of me who pranced before the mirror on tiptoes when I tried on a new dress or a sexy pair of panties. The seductress who pursed her lips at the reflection in the mirror, yet who shuddered at the idea of actually doing such a thing before a real, live, breathing male.

Oh, tiny vixen. It’s your time to shine. Or at least turn up the dimmer switch to the next level of brightness.

I slipped the yellow silk robe from my shoulder. Taking particular notice of the slide of fabric over my skin, I focused on that instead of the man watching me. Swift, light, as if a brush of a lover’s hand, it sent a shiver down my arm and perked the hairs over goose flesh. The silk draped above my breast, the little embroidered bee crushed within the folds.

As I shifted my shoulders back, allowing the other sleeve to drop down, the robe spilled even further, both sleeves landing at the crooks of my elbows. My nipples tightened, much less from the fabric, and more from anticipation. Or was it fear? The tremble in my chest gave me away. But I was determined, so I continued.

I didn’t feel compelled to cup my hands before my breasts, so the lightweight fabric splayed open, shifting across my skin in delicious tingles, and inspiring a heavy inhale of courage on my part.

The man’s smile deepened, and he nodded at the sight of my exposed breasts. His thumbs up sign didn’t seem lecherous so much as a quiet thank you. Because there I stood, in the middle of the night, exposing myself to a complete stranger who I hardly knew. Hell, I didn’t know him at all.

Wait. The other night’s window wave and book sharing counted as a first meeting, right? Sure, we were old friends.

Struggling with the weirdness of my newly-emerged exhibitionism and the need to wrap the silk back across my breasts and flee for safety under the comforter, I exhaled slowly and breathed in through my nose. Aware that the action lifted my breasts, I noticed that he was even more acutely tuned in.

Too much. Too fast. What the hell are you doing?

Right. Enough with playing the wanton for the night. I pulled up the robe, kissed the palm of my hand and blew him a kiss. Then I shuffled into bed and switched off the lamp.

Snuggling into the sheets, my head crushing into the pillow, I closed my eyes. A smile curled my mouth. I’d never done anything so brazen before. Ever. It was completely out of character.

My introvert’s crown had just tilted. And the vixen within giggled.

I wondered if he was still standing there, waiting for my return? Dare I look?

I pulled up the comforter to my nose.

“Tomorrow night,” I whispered. “It’ll be his turn to reveal something to me.”

BLOG STOP & 5* REVIEW Taming Ryder by Nicola Haken

Taming Ryder blog tour banner

ryder cover

Synopsis

You met Ryder Richardson in Being Sawyer Knight. Now, this is his story.

I’ve done it. I’ve stuck a whopping two fingers up at my parents, I’ve made a name for myself as one of the world’s biggest porn stars and I’ve finally found a family I belong in.

Life is amazing. I get paid to do all my favourite things. Fuck. Party. Travel the world. What’s not to love?

And then he comes along. Mason George – Back Door Studio’s newest exclusive model and the guy who has the potential to either fuck it all up, or take me on the best ride of my life.

~ Ryder

I’m desperate. I’ve got nothing and nobody left. Entering the daunting world of adult entertainment is less of a dream and more of a necessity. Signing as Back Door Studio’s latest model has the ability to either ruin or make me, but I made a vow at my first audition never to let myself regret it.

I continue to question myself each day, but no amount of what’s, why’s or what ifs will change where I am or where I’m heading. Am I strong enough to do this? To embrace it? To enjoy it? I have no idea.

The only thing I’m certain of, is that if anyone can teach me who I’m supposed to be, it’s Ryder Richardson.

~ Mason

“Because the most exciting things in life always happen via the back door”

review

The second book in the Souls of the Knight series sees us focusing on Ryder, the cocky hairdresser that we first met in Being Sawyer Knight and what a story he has!

I fell for Ryder when he first met Jake and Sawyer and his background intrigued me! He has ditched the scissors and taken up residence in front of the camera! I have now read this at least four times and I will say that each time I’ve delved in I’ve still come through the other side feeling wrung out after sharing Ryder’s story.

This isn’t a book for those of a nervous disposition. Poor Ryder has issues and lots of them but rolls himself in glitter and glitz and a life of hard work and harder partying to try and hide from the crap he has been dealt in the past.

Mason rolls into his life and for the first time in a long time Ryder realises that this time things may be different for him. But there is so much of Ryder’s past to deal with you often feel like there isn’t going to be a happy ending!

Some scenes in this book have been heart wrenching and others so cringeworthy that the first time around I was almost too scared to read! I’m not one for spiders but suffice to say that Nicola writes some of Ryders scenes with such detail I felt every tiny bit of pain with him.

Although there undoubtedly is a hard side to his story this book isn’t without the hot scenes between Ryder and Mason. Their attraction is magnetic and she hey are together they are literally on fire it’s so hot! Nicola doesn’t disappoint in the bedroom department at all and adds a dash of very cute romance in there too!

I have throughly enjoyed this series so far and if you haven’t read this it’s definitely well worth it!! This gets a fantabulous five stars from me!

excerpt

“Say you’ll go on a date with me?”

“A date? Me?” An involuntary smile crept onto my face at the ridiculous notion. “That’s never going to happen, Mase. I don’t date. Ever.”

“Why? Why won’t you let anyone in?”

“Oh come on, that’s taking things a bit far.”

“How so? I’m interested to know why you won’t date, why you won’t let anyone get close to you.”

“I never said I wouldn’t let anyone get close to me. You’re making this out to be far more serious than it is.”

“Then go on a date with me.”

“No.”

“Why?”

“Because I don’t want to be tied down. I like the life I have and I’m not going to fuck it up by having to justify myself to someone else.”

“Justify what? I’m not a stranger. I know who you are and what you do. Your life would still be the same.”

“It wouldn’t. Relationships are so…serious. Complicated. People expect trust, and monogamy, and for you to share shit. I haven’t got time for that.”

“Stop referring to me as ‘people’. I’m not ‘people’, I’m me. Of course I want you to share shit, how else am I supposed to get to know you? As for monogamy, I assume you’re referring to porn. In which case, I’m a porn model too, Ry. I might not have chosen it for the same reasons as you but I still get it. It’s a job. A job I’d never ask or expect you to quit. What you do on camera isn’t what you shared with me that night here, and I know you know that as well as I do. And trust? That needs to be earned. I’m asking for a date, Ryder. Not marriage.”

I let out a long breath in the form of a deep, confused sigh. Much to my surprise, I was almost considering the idea, until his hand that was still on my leg squeezed my knee gently and my heart leapt into my throat. I couldn’t control it. I couldn’t control the way my pulse raced or my dick swelled when he touched me and I hated that. I swore no one would ever have control over me and so I wasn’t about to give it to Mason.

“I said no,” I snapped firmly. “And I also think it’s time you looked for your own place.”

Mason’s back abruptly stiffened. His face paled and his jaw dropped slightly open.

“If that’s what you want, I’ll look into it tomorrow.”

“It is what I want. This was only supposed to be temporary, remember?”

“Sure,” he nodded, his voice wavering. “I’m sorry I’ve upset you,” he added, standing from the chair. My lips parted to say something, but when I realised I didn’t have a fucking clue what I should say, they closed again. Mason gave me one last glance, his eyebrows narrowing as if he were in pain. Then he nodded once and turned for his room, leaving me alone with tears stinging the back of my eyes and my fist itching to punch myself in my worthless fucking face.

Fuck.

Author: J.E. & M Keep
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Release Date: October 15, 2014
Hosted by: Book Enthusiast Promotions

Synopsis

After all, even demons deserve a chance at love.

With her angelic wings and his demonic horns they were never meant to come together. But his red eyes trap her and her seductive wings lure him. Their hot demon blood crashes. What starts as one night of carnal pleasure turns into an adventure of epic portions.

Shades of Dungeons and Dragons twisted in wicked ways.

Within days of meeting Lilah and Glaurakos fall across the path of an evil sorceress who traps them in a strange and dangerous “other world”. The threats in the new world are perilous, yet their lust for each other is far more frightening. Will their bond be strong enough to make it out alive?

Against all odds of the damned, can love grow between two half demons?

This fantasy novel is a twisted romance at its core inspired by Dungeons and Dragons/Forgotten Realms, by best selling Paranormal Romance authors J.E. & M. Keep.

excerpt

Chapter 1

As the slaver’s caravan rolled along, the wagon in which Glaurakos was held bumped and jostled wildly. The make of the transport was clearly designed for security, not comfort. It was enough to send someone with poor balance toppling to and fro. He was in a different world from the chaotic realm he’d escaped, but the confinement… that was familiar.

The terrain was rough, following the road less travelled along the path from Sho’ar into the smaller trading camps. It was also more private, which was what the slavers needed. Glaurakos could see the thick forest as they slowly made their way past it, the hot sun beating down on them. It didn’t bother him, though.

An odd mix of the beautiful and the terrifying, Glaurakos was born a Fae-Demon. His elven blood manifested in his bright, golden hued skin, handsome facial features and orange-gold hair that fell down around his back and shoulders, straight and silken-smooth. The other half of him was that of a hellish demon, with massive back-swept horns, leathery bat-like wings, glowing red eyes, sharp teeth, clawed fingers and six-and-a-half-foot height.

He was a rare beast on the surface world, a prize for any slaver smart enough – or stupid enough – to try to capture.

He was not bound in the caged wagon, but he was kept there alone, and a crisscross of metal mesh kept him from summoning his sword to him and fighting back against his captors. The damnable humans knew what a price they could fetch for him, and they hungered for it. Any demon, even a half-breed, fought with mastery in battle that a human could never obtain.

Glaurakos seethed as he plotted his escape.

It had been a while since the newest addition had been added to the caravan: a beautiful winged woman who was chained to the back of the caravan, but a few feet from him. She was walking with her head down, following closely after the wagon. Her slender form looked even smaller against the manacles around her hands, their enchantments no doubt keeping her from casting spells. These slavers weren’t the usual, trading in grunt workers. They were seeking the big wins.

She looked to be an angel with her large, feathery wings and her delicate features. An innocent, someone easily manipulated and trusting. Even for a fiend like him. She was tall and svelte. Her body was naturally slim, but she looked like she had recently shed some weight, leaving her cheeks a tad more hollow than usual. She tried her best not to move her manacled hands to draw any further attention to herself. Her wings were bound behind her, the tips pressed together painfully, enough to cause a constant cringe to taint her otherwise attractive face. Her porcelain white skin was framed by a black shock of hair, and he had no doubt that this was how she looked at her worst.

These slavers were exceptionally clever, or terrifically lucky, to have found and captured two of the rarer species of humanoids around.

The slavers spread out after a time, keeping a wide sentry on the moving caravan. He managed to fight them off before they could shed him of his thick and intricate armour, a series of chest and leg plates with a short cloak draped about his shoulders and back. Perhaps they figured that once they got him to their destination they could better steal his earthly goods. He had to act fast, and Glaurakos shifted to move onto his knees.

“Angel. I can break us free if you help me,” he whispered, his voice preternaturally deep and raspy. There was a terrifying sense of command that permeated his words, not by practice, but by natural inheritance.

Lilah raised her freshly bruised eyes to him, clearly having taken a couple of blows in the struggle to get her to go with the slavers. Her expression was sour and cruel, though it brightened at his promise. She glanced around at her surroundings briefly with her eerie, green eyes.

“What do you figure?” she asked, her voice nearly ethereal, a practiced combination of sweet and tantalizing with an undertone of hidden promise.

“They haven’t stripped me of my magic. They think me a mere warrior,” he grinned, baring his sharply fanged teeth slyly. “But without help outside, my spells are useless. So…” He paused, some reluctant doubt tingeing his voice as though he didn’t expect her to agree to his plan. “With your agreement, I will shift us, summon my sword and free us to escape to safety.”

She averted her eyes from him, keenly on the lookout for any who may notice her speaking to him.

“What do you need me for?” she asked. Her voice was skeptical, but still filled with hope.

“These bars prevent me from magically passing through,” he rasped, licking his lips briefly with his bizarrely pointed tongue.

“However, with a spell I could switch our places. It’s not the same, you see? An eventuality they are not likely to have prepared for.” He smirked mischievously at her. “Once I’m outside this wagon, I will be able to get us out of here without issue. They only caught me by dumb luck in the first place. So, what say you?”

His large, leathery wings twitched upon his back anxiously. He had not nearly enough room to unfurl them.

She opened her plush lips to argue before shutting them. Whether she was chained helpless to the wagon, or captured within, there were few options for escape. She looked at him for as long as she’d dared before her eyes flicked away from his harsh gaze.

“If you leave me, I will find you,” she said finally, jutting her jaw in annoyance at the reluctant and tentative agreement. “I know my way from here.”

Pursing his lips for a moment, he smiled widely, giving her a stern nod.

“I will free you,” he said, eyeing her wings. “Do they work still? Or did they just bind them? I want to know before I try to free us. Things will move fast once I’m out, I don’t have time to figure out how to break your chains once we start.”

“They are bound without magical means. Though I will need to be freed of it before I can fly,” she replied.

Glaurakos nodded sternly. “Chain or leather straps?”

“Leather. I’d do it myself if I had time. I don’t imagine I will, if you’re able to do this.”

“Get ready,” he said with finality. His voice was preternaturally rich and deep that everything he said sounded commanding and authoritative.

Glaurakos stood as well as he could in the caged wagon, focused and determined as he prepared his gambit. It was a fairly simple spell, but required her consent to be dragged through the ether.

Without further delay he muttered the profane words.

Kelly Gendron

Kelly resides in a quiet suburb somewhere between Buffalo and Niagara Falls, NY. Her day job? Kelly works in health care representing a group of nursing facilities in the WNY area. She’s been faithfully writing for three years but did write her first book ten years ago. She put it down to raise her son as a single mom and then picked it back up when she and her son finally grew up. That’s when she settled into her newly married adult life and started to seriously write again. She’s dabbled with Romantic Suspense stories, but recently she’s been on a contemporary kick. The recipe for the men in her stories: a dash of bad boy attitude, a cup of strong and confident and, of course, besides being packed with magnificent bodies, and doused with shameless aptitudes, they must have a tender heart you want to rip out of the pages (or your e-Reader) and take to bed with you at night.

excerpt

“I-I can’t believe you just walked out here butt-ass naked.”

“Why?” His eyelids lift. “What do I have to be ashamed of?”

“Uh…” Does he really want me to answer that?

“Besides,” he says, the side of his mouth turning up, “it ain’t like you haven’t been imaging what I look like butt-ass naked.”

“In your dreams,” I hiss. Powerless, I steal another glimpse of the muscles rippling down his arms, his flat stomach, and his strong legs. Hot damn, he’s perfect.

“Precisely where I’ve been, huh?”

“Yeah, right.” I stand up from the bed, my strength weakening.

“That’s not what you were mumbling in my ear last night,” he says, readjusting the towel around his sculptured waist.

“Hey, I was perfectly fine on the floor. You didn’t have to pick me up and put me in bed with you.”

“Just as I thought.” He shakes his head and takes a few steps toward me.

“What’s that?” I turn a bit to the left to move away from the unsafe bed.

“You were awake when I did that, and you still had no fight in ya to stop me. Admit it. You wanted to sleep with me. Those sexy legs of yours wanted nothing more than to wrap themselves around my body, and as for your hands…” His eyebrow curves. “Are you gonna deny where they were wandering to—”

“Now I know you’re full of shit! My hands didn’t wander anywhere.”

“No, but mine did, and there was no fight in ya to stop me then either.”

“Ew!” I don’t remember sleeping with him. But, hell, if I’d been awake, my frisky hands would’ve been all over him. “Fuck off,” I lurch, utterly frustrated.

“Now let’s not start throwing that word around, ‘cause standing here in nothing but a towel with you wanting what you want…” he says, shaking his head. “Well, I can’t promise that boyfriend of yours will be too happy to hear about you, me, and the eff word all summed up into one.”

“You’re an—”

“Yes, I know.” He waves me off. “I’m an arrogant ass, but hey, I get it. You want me, but you belong to someone else.” He shrugs and grins. “It happens.”

My hands ball into tight fists at my sides. “I belong to no one!”

“You do, Sloan, whether you want to admit it or not. You’re his.” He presses closer, and my back hits the wall. “And be thankful for it.” He lifts his hands and places them on the wall, trapping me. “See, the fact is…” His eyes roll down my body, then slowly saunter back up, “That’s the only thing stopping me from stripping your clothes off, slamming you against this wall, and fucking you hard.” He leans in, and my entire being shakes from the inside out. “It’s all that’s stopping me from making every bone in your body ache for me, and every muscle ache because of me. And let me tell ya, by the time I got through with you…” He pauses again, his lips slightly parted, his head tilting closer. “You’d certainly belong to someone, because I’d make you completely mine.”
