Taking a deep breath and shifting her position, she slung the bow across her chest, over her shoulder, and started down the tree.

It sunk into the core of her very being, and the urge to weep invaded all parts of her. Tears burned the back of her throat as she slowly made her way down to her doom. Taking in a deep breath before she turned around she caught the scent of fresh meat, mead, and man. Before she could stop her rotation, she was slammed against the tree. A hard body pressed against hers, pinning her in place. Sucking in a shocked breath, she looked up into the glowing hues of Thorfinn. Her body responded instantly, her lips went dry, nipples grew hard, and the ache between her legs drew a whimper from her.

The smile grew on Thorfinn’s lips. Quickly, he disarmed her before one hand locked both her arms behind her back. The arch pushed her breasts forward, making her nipples visible through the fabric of the men’s shirt, a growl rumbled from him. It vibrated against and heated her body.

She felt the flush take her over and she looked away.

“Oh, no you don’t, my sweet Varona,” He rumbled.

She looked at him, his words dousing chilled water over her arousal.

“Feck you, Thor!”

He grinned before she felt his thick fingers play against her thighs.

Varona whimpered before she clamped her thighs shut against his hand.

Thorfinn pressed harder against her. The bark bit into her flesh, and she cried out. As her lips parted, his mouth crashed against hers, and all thought left her brain. Rationally, she knew it shouldn’t be this easy to lose her senses. The man was taking her most precious thing from her—in front of his men, and her father, no less!

His tongue dominated her mouth, and she tasted the meat and man that assaulted her. Her body flared up like a fire storm, and she pressed back against him. Her own inexperienced tongue toyed with his as he chuckled against her kiss-swollen lips.

“That’s it, good girl,” he rumbled. His fingers now slid through the wet slit of her cunt.

The fight and flight instinct roared back, and she bucked against him just as his thumb circled a tight little bundle of nerves, bringing forth a harsh gust of air from her lungs.

“Oh, for the gods!”

She fell back against the tree, her eyes fluttering shut. His fingers stopped moving forcing her to open them as the ache burned between her thighs.

“You will look in my eyes the whole time I claim you. You will know who owns this tight quim. You will bow, and you will beg! Is that clear?”

She opened her mouth to protest, but his lips took hers again in a bruising kiss. His fingers shoved into her entrance, and she cried out into his mouth. She made weak attempts to overpower him, but he was a skilled lover-the kind women in their village talked and bragged about. She had nothing to offer him. The idea of boring him did something to her chest, and she found she was thrusting against his hand.

His eyes smiled down at her. That glow was possessive.

“That’s it. Take it, own it.”

She couldn’t stop as his fingers went deeper with each thrust, faster. The sound of wet flesh sucking brought the arousal higher. His fingers curved and teased inside her. “And now that you see someone else is serious about her, you want her back?”

The two old friends looked at one another and began laughing aloud. Just then Tess walked back into the room. “Keep it down you two. Mattie just fell asleep,” she admonished as she sat down next to Sebastian.

“Sorry, darling,” he apologized, kissing her temple.

“So tell me, Tess: what on earth made you fall in love with Sebastian?”

Tess looked up at her husband. Her lips curled up into a smile. “I had never met anyone like him before. He’s the most loyal friend I’ve ever had, the most loving husband, and the best father.”

Sebastian looked at her, his eyes shining bright with happiness. “I love you,” he whispered, forgetting Alistair was still in the room.

Alistair cleared his throat to get the couple’s attention. “I’d best be going. You two lovebirds seem like you need some alone time.”

“Please, you’re welcome to stay a while longer,” Tess offered.

“Thank you for a wonderful dinner.” Alistair stood and kissed Tess on the cheek. Next, he shook

Sebastian’s hand. “If you’d like, I’d love to have you by Kensington Palace in a few weeks for dinner. I have an apartment there. You’re welcome to bring Mattie, too.”

“Thank you for the offer, but I’m not sure you want Mattie running around the palace,” Sebastian said.

Tess looked up at her husband with expectant eyes. “She would love it and so would I.”

“It’s settled then. I’ll have my secretary ring you next week with a date.”

“Thank you, Alistair. It was a pleasure to meet you,” Tess said, extending her hand.

Opening the front door, Sebastian said, “Have a good evening.” He watched as Alistair made his way to the Range Rover parked in front of their home. When he had driven off, Sebastian loosened his tie and shook his head in disbelief. “How did you mange to wrangle an invitation to the palace?”

“You’ve known him how many years and you’ve never been there?” Tess asked in disbelief.

“Back then, the palace—any palace—was the last place we wanted to be.” Sebastian took her hand and led her to the bedroom.

“Yes, I suppose wild parties and fine painting and antiques don’t mix. Too many things could get broken.”

“Exactly.”

“He seems nice enough. Do you think he’s tamed his wild ways?”

“Maybe he has. It’s hard to say. He’s regretting letting Penny get away.”

“He told you that?”

“Yes.” Sebastian closed the bedroom door and began to take off his suit.

“Hmm, interesting time for him to pop back into the picture,” Tess mused, stepping out of her dress and then hanging it in the closet.

“I’ll keep an eye on him. I don’t need him stirring up trouble for Max and Pen.”

Five AHhhhhhh Stars from me!

I have become real fan of Melody’s books and this latest one is again a winner of me! Tegan is introduced to us in Dex’s story and her story was crying out to be told!

Melody has done a fantastic job of creating a story that had me gripped front he start and also added a lot of hot steamy scenes and a good dollop of will they won’t they too!

A pretty steamy chance meeting in vegas brings the two main characters together. Ry appears pretty smitten from the word go and it takes some encouragement for him to final breakdown the walls that Tegan has built. I really love both Tegan and Ryland and after reading Dex’s story I was humbled to find that Tegan is actually rally loveable and theres a lot more to her than meets the eye. Ryland totally made me swoon too and on the face of it he’s the stereotypical bad boy but again once his outer layer is peeled back, the loving and totally adoring man inside is revealed.

Both characters have a lot to deal with from their respective pasts but this adds to the drama of the story. It is truly worth read and for me the ending was truly brilliant, especially he lengths to which Tegan goes – I will say no more!

Cannot wait for more from this series!

Daegan mouths to me that I’m next. An onset of nervousness engulfs me. I say a silent prayer that I don’t screw this up and embarrass myself.

Walking over to the side of the stage, I smile at the singer as she makes her way off. She doesn’t look too pleased by her performance. She sounded okay to me.

I glance behind at the band and ask if they know Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Walk Away’. The drummer is the only one familiar with the song, so I tell the others to let me lead with my guitar and just fall in with the beat.

It’s an up-tempo song. I figure it’ll give the energetic crowd something to rock to. Hopefully, I can pull this off.

Edging back to the microphone stand, I inhale a soft breath and try to spot his face for motivation. I didn’t think I’d be able to make him out in this dark room, but somehow I do. Daegan’s on his feet behind the audience. His eyes lock with mine, eagerly waiting for me to deliver something great.

I don’t want to let him down. I don’t want to disappoint myself.

My chest relaxes. Melodies float around in my head. I hear the harmonies. I can do this.
