NEW RELEASE & 5* Review Her Destiny by Monica Murphy

Excerpt:

“You sure Evan doesn’t mind me being here?”

“He probably hates that you’re staying the night, but he’ll get over it.” I take a step toward him and pat him on the shoulder, marveling at the solid feel of muscle beneath my palm, beneath the thick fabric of his sweatshirt. Has he gotten taller since the last time I saw him? Broader? He’s so big, standing next to him makes me feel small. “Do you need anything else?” I remove my hand from his shoulder, wishing I could touch him more.

“Nah. I’m gonna change, brush my teeth and go to sleep.” He smiles, looking cute, like a little boy and my heart flutters. When he reaches for the hem of his sweatshirt I step away, watch in silent fascination as he pulls the fabric over his head, taking the T-shirt he’s wearing beneath it upward so I catch a glimpse of his flat, perfect stomach, the little trail of dark hair that starts just under his navel.

I’m breathless, my skin is tingling and when he tosses the sweatshirt onto the couch, I start to walk backwards. “Okay well, good night.” I need to get away from him before I do something really stupid.

Like jump him.

“Night, Reverie,” he calls after me as I hurry to my bedroom. Glancing over my shoulder, I find him watching me with that penetrating, thoughtful gaze and I turn away, practically tripping over my feet in the hall. I rush into my room, shutting the door quietly before I slump against it, closing my eyes and pressing my forehead against the rough wood.

My feelings for him haven’t stopped. I still want him. I’m still in love with him. So why am I denying myself from being with him? Because I’ve changed and I’m worried he won’t accept me for who I really am? And because my life is so crazy the last thing I need is another complication to muck it all up?

Valid reasons, but why would I deprive myself from being with him? He’s the only one who understood me. Who listened to me. Who cared about me.

I think he still does.

Cracking open my eyes, I push away from the doorway and shut off the light before I crawl into bed. I lay there in the dark, listening to him move about inside the bathroom, which is right next to my bedroom. He finishes brushing his teeth before he exits the room and I swear I can feel him standing on the other side of my closed door, waiting. Listening for any sign of life coming from within.

I can’t move. I’m frozen, holding my breath, waiting for him to knock on the door, to turn the knob, anything to show that he wants to see me. I want him to both respect my brother’s wishes and defy them. I want him overcome with need yet cautious. I want…everything.

All of him.

Disappointment crashes through me when I realize he is definitely obeying Evan’s wishes. He doesn’t sneak into my room, doesn’t attempt to talk to me, nothing. I should be happy. Pleased that he doesn’t want to upset anyone.

Instead, I’m sad.

Rolling over on my side, I punch the pillow beneath my head and settle in for the night, willing myself to fall asleep. I get to spend pretty much the entire weekend with him. Maybe we can work it out then since we’ll have plenty of time. But for now I’ll have to settle for Nick visiting me…

Only in my dreams.

About HER DESTINY:

I knew from the moment I first saw him he was the one. The only boy I could ever want.
The only boy I could ever love.

They say he’s bad for me.

But I know he’s not.

Until the day he rejects me.

And breaks my heart.

Everything changes in the blink of an eye. My entire life as I’ve known it is…gone. Secrets are revealed. Promises once made are irrevocably broken. There’s no way my family can get back to what we once were.

So when Nicholas Fairfield walks back into my life like he never left it, I’m furious. Thrilled. Irritated. Excited.

Despite my confusion, I want to be with him. I love him. But danger lurks where we least expect it. Someone will do whatever it takes to tear us apart. All I know is: I won’t let them.

Because Nick Fairfield? He’s mine.

review

I loved His Reverie and totally fell for Nick and Reverie and their romance.  I was also left heartbroken at the end though and couldn’t wait for this sequel to be released!

We find a deserted Reverie now in an about turn with her life and in a minor rebellion against everything. Meanwhile poor Nick has walked away from her in a vain attempt to save her and her parents reputation.  I hated that he felt like she didn’t deserve him and it also broke my heart as to how and why he walked away from her.

I was a bit worried that things weren’t destined to go the way of true love and the addition of Evan into the protective brother role along with (albeit an unjustified) suspicion surrounding Nick and the death of his ex girlfriend, you sense that the two of them have a long way to go to have a chance at happiness.

This sequel had me in knots and poor Nick just never catches a break with anything.  I felt so sorry for him and especially when you get to see him as a sweet, kind and personable human who so doesn’t deserve the lot in life he has been given.  Reverie always has been anything but pretentious and eases into her new life with a grace I admired immensely.  If I loved her in the first book (although she was very innocent she still stole my heart) she totally won me over this time too!

I won’t spoil the ending but all I will say is that I had my heart in my mouth for about the last third of the book!

Well worth every one of the five fab stars I’m giving it!  Highly recommend you read this!!!

Book Title: The Blue Amaryllis
Author: Sonia De Leon
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 2014
Hosted by: Book Enthusiast Promotions

Synopsis

Upon the death of her mother, 26 year old Leia York is left bereft and grief stricken. An old college professor extends her an invitation to join him in one of the most beautiful, yet most dangerous, places on earth – the Amazon rainforest. She embarks on an impulsive journey, hoping to forget the sadness of her life in Chicago.

After being nearly killed by a man who belongs to a dangerous group of Indians that hate outsiders, she stumbles into the Matis village. A handsome native man sees to her injuries, and they soon form a friendship.

Leia is among those chosen to go on a quest that is vital to the survival of the natives. Along the way, Leia finds a strength within herself that she never knew she possessed. The six week quest is fraught with danger, adventure, and unexpectedly: love. A love which is strictly forbidden. Will Leia respect an indigenous law that prevents her from pursuing the only love she has ever known?

The Blue Amaryllis is a unique story that blends romance and adventure, while exploring the very real ecological issues threatening the Amazon rainforest and tribes within. It is a story of a proud people whose unique way of life faces extinction, and the passionate love that develops between one of their own and an outsider.

excerpt

Leia spun around, clambered up the high, muddy riverbank, and stared at what lay ahead. The jungle walls rose like a living parapet in front of her; a verdant tsunami of vines and darkness. She ignored the chill that crept up her spine, and began sprinting into the jungle.

The thick canopy shielded most of the sunlight and reduced the thick, clammy air to a pleasant coolness. The run allowed her to stretch her legs after being cramped from the past few days of travel, and she soon reached the river. She turned left and followed it.

The jungle began to dim and darken at an alarming rate, so she pushed herself to run faster. Trees and vines whipped past, some snapping against her skin. Many times, she splashed directly into the river to skirt areas of the shore that were too overgrown to run through.

After about three more miles of hard running, Leia began to slow and her breathing became uneven. She needed hydration, but the camel pack she had filled back home in Chicago had been empty since lunchtime and she refused to stop. How could she know whether this water was safe?

A movement in her periphery caught her attention as something black streaked through the trees across the small river. Please don’t let there be animals looking for a meal, she prayed silently as she ran a list of possible creatures through her mind. Finally, Leia reached a place where the grass and leaves looked matted down. She slowed her pace to a jog and turned to follow the path.

Across the river, foliage erupted as a black shape burst through. Leia turned to look, her eyes wide and startled. A menacingly large man, his entire body blackened, stared at her from across the narrow river. His top lip curled up, exposing his teeth as he advanced on the river. The black coal smeared over his face made the whiteness of his eyes and teeth almost glow against the darkness of the jungle.

Slowly, Leia began to back away, keeping her eyes trained on the man, and with a leap and a splash, he bounded into the river, coming straight at her. A scream ripped from her throat as Leia spun and began sprinting as fast as her burnt out body could manage. She couldn’t hear him, but somehow she knew he was close behind. A searing panic rushed through every nerve in her body as adrenaline pumped her forward.

A quarter mile ahead lay a large grassy dirt clearing, scattered with raised huts on stilted legs. Leia didn’t notice the ground drop, and lost her footing, slamming her forehead into a low hanging branch. She lurched upward, pushed herself off the ground, and stumbled into the village.

In the center, a group of native people sat on logs eating a meal. Leia ran into their midst. There was drawn out silence as they stared at her, wide-eyed. She wheezed for breath, hunched over, while her hands gripped her shaking knees.

“Please! Help!” she choked out between heaving gasps. “I have to see James McDonald, where is he?”

A man with a tall, broad-shouldered frame unfolded from where he had been crouched on the ground and walked toward her. His lean, muscled body moved in a smooth, prowling manner that brought to mind wolves and panthers. To describe him as handsome would be a grave injustice. This man was beautiful. Her eyes widened when she saw that he was mostly naked, with just a thin cord wrapped around his bare hips. Leia tried to prevent her eyes from drifting lower, but they dropped to his feet and then ran up the length of his body.

He was magnificently built; a splendid creation. Multiple strands of long, dark-brown beads crossed diagonally over a powerfully sculpted chest, meeting in an X in the middle. Hanging from his neck was another strand of white, triangular-shaped beads, which contrasted against his bronzed skin. The same white beads wrapped in a single strand around each of his biceps. He was very tall, and his features were breathtaking. Dark eyes and high cheekbones gave way to a straight, defined nose. A strong, angular jaw framed his wide, full lips. It was as if God himself had gathered the dust and molded the impossible creature before her with his own hands.

It really was unfair that she had to encounter the most attractive man she had ever seen, while at her most unattractive. She didn’t require a mirror to know what she looked like after a long run and knew her stubborn flyaways resembled a lion’s mane framing her bright red face.

Leia’s mouth hung open as she stared at him. A strange feeling overcame her, and it seemed as if the entire universe shifted, then locked into place with a loud, resounding echo of finality.

No, wait, it was her head spinning. Her eyes began to blur, a roaring sound filled her ears, and she crumpled to the ground, falling into a velvet-enmeshed blackness.

COVER REVEAL Sins and Mistrust by Isabel Lucero

Sins & Mistrust (The Escort Series) by Isabel Lucero

Genre: Erotic Romance
Release Date: Early September
Marc Edwards is a male escort in Sin City. He’s used to being into whatever his clients are into, and doing everything they fantasize about. He’s also used to keeping parts of himself from the people closest to him, and denying himself what he truly wants.
He gains a client who’s unlike any other client he’s had. Nathalia LaBelle actually tries to get to know non-escort Marc. She wants to find out what it is he fantasizes about, and isn’t bothered by the nature of his job.
Has Marc found someone to open up to? Will Nathalia be able to handle what he desires? What he craves? Lines begin to blur, and Marc struggles knowing a relationship with a client is something that can’t happen.
But what happens when Lincoln Cash, a man who has his own special relationship with Nathalia, comes into the picture with his own desires, rules, and sinful requests? Will they be able to get on the same page, or will mistrust run rampant and ruin everybody’s chances at getting what they want?
Author’s Note:
This novel contains M/M, M/F/M, M/F, M/M/F scenes. Anyway it can be done, it most likely is done in this book. If any of those kinds of sex scenes bother you, I wouldn’t suggest reading this one. This novel also contains explicit language, and some mild sadomasochism.  Nothing too extreme, just kinky. Meant for readers over 18.
Author’s Note Pt. 2
While this is book three in The Escort Series, it can be read as a standalone. There is no need to read Living in Sin and Unforgivable Sin first, as this one starts in the time that Living in Sin did, and then follows through the series without giving much away about the first two. You may get some information regarding the other stories, but not much. Marc was scarce in those books, and we now get to see what he was up to.
“How are you, Lincoln?”
“I’m well. How have you been?”
“I’ve been good, just a little busy.”
“Well, let me take you out to dinner tonight.”
“I have plans tonight, Lincoln. I’m sorry.”
“Oh, well, how about tomorrow night?” he asks, unperturbed.
“I also have plans for tomorrow night.”
“Hmm,” he grunts. “Is this new guy the one taking up all of your time?”
“I’m not really sure why that’s any of your business.”
“You know why.”
“Lincoln, we’ve discussed this before. Any reason why we aren’t anything is because of you.”
“But that could be changing now, don’t you think?”
“I don’t know yet.”
“Nathalia, you know I want you, and I know you want me too.”
“We’ve tried.” I rub my hand across my forehead.
“We only tried once and it didn’t work out because we didn’t agree on…”
“I know why it didn’t work!” I snap, cutting him off.
“I think we can both agree now, though.”
I can almost hear him smile through the phone.
“I think we both know it takes more than just us to agree.”
“I do,” he states firmly.
There’s a brief moment of silence as we both wait for the other to say something.
“I have to go, Lincoln.”
“I expect to hear from you later.”
“Don’t expect to hear what you want to hear.”
His deep laugh rumbles through the phone. “Oh, Nathalia. I always hear what I want to hear. Sometimes it just takes longer than I’d like it to. This will work, my darling. Just you wait and see. When it does happen, both of our fantasies will become reality. Isn’t that what you want?”
I take a deep breath and blow it out loudly. “You know it is.”
“Good. I’ll speak to you soon. Enjoy your evening.”
He hangs up before I can respond.

FMFY Cover Update

Book Title: Finding Me, Finding You
Author: Shealy James
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: September 2013
Hosted by: Book Enthusiast Promotions

Synopsis

Parker wasn’t always a bad boy. It wasn’t until his life seemed to lose meaning that things started spiraling out of control. Nothing mattered though, not without her around. That was until he met Maggie, the introverted beauty that had taken one too many verbal beatings.

Maggie wasn’t exactly shy, but she definitely wasn’t confident either. Until now she had been happy existing in her small world, but she was ready for a change. She vowed to make friends in college. Simple, right? Not quite. Maggie discovers she was in store for more than just friendship. Instead she finds a painful crush on an emotionally unavailable guy.

As Maggie and Parker each head down the path of self-discovery, they learn it isn’t always easy to keep the ones you love when you are becoming the person you want to be.

excerpt

“So, Parker, how long have you been in love with my little girl?”

I looked at him shocked. “What?”

“You’re watching her like You’re ready to pounce anyone who touches her wrong or if anyone under the age of sixty tries to dance with her. You drove all this way to come to a party that she hates. I know she is incredibly crabby when she is home, and I can only assume that has something to do with you. She has been happier at school this year than she was the last two, and I know about your piano performance, which was a nice touch by the way.”

I thought for a second. Was I in love with Maggie? This wasn’t the first time this had crossed my mind, but it was the first time I believed it could be possible. Yes. I am. I’m in love with Maggie Miller.

“I’ll ask you again, son. How long have you been in love with my daughter?”

“I think since the day I met her, sir.”

“Yeah I thought so. I saw the way you looked at her then as well. Have you told her how you feel?”

“No, sir.”

“Have you had sex with her?”

“What? NO! No, sir!”

He gave me a mischievous grin. “Ha. Just checking. Well, go get her.” He nodded to where she was dancing with a bald older man with wandering hands. I laughed when she had to move his hand off her butt for probably the tenth time.

“Are you going to cut my balls off?”

Livy has finally realized that you can’t fight fate… Some things are just meant to be. Is this finally her time to get it right, or has Livy missed her last chance with Ethan?

excerpt

“Liv, what’s going on? Is she okay? Keefer told me what went down.”

I moved away from the door and met Ethan halfway. “No, she isn’t okay.” It came out bitter.

“Can I do anything? I could come-”

I shook my head. “We’re fine, thanks.” Without realizing I stepped back and Ethan’s face paled.

“And us?”

My eyes dropped to the floor.

“Liv, look at me. What. About. Us?”

I forced myself to look at him. My head and heart were at war. My heart wanted him to wrap me in his arms and tell me everything was going to be okay. That Amber would heal. That Sharn would meet her Prince Charming. That we really did have something. But my head knew better. My head would always know better.

“There is no us. I’m sorry, Ethan. Goodbye.” I turned from him and fled back to the limo.

“You’re running from me, Liv. Don’t use this as an excuse to run,” he called out.

Once in the safety of the limo, I slammed the door behind me, ignoring Sharn’s questioning glare.

“How is she?”

“A mess. This will leave scars.” Sharn answered.

I leaned my head onto the backrest and pressed a finger to my lips, trying to remember what kissing Ethan felt like. Was it even real? It didn’t feel real. Not now. It felt like a dream—the really good kind, until you wake up and realize it was just that.

A dream.

Because in the harsh light of day, life wasn’t like that. It was hard—full of hurt and people who let you down.

No, life wasn’t like a dream at all.
