Synopsis

What to Read After FSoG (#WTRAFSOG) began as a Facebook page created by Summer Daniels dedicated to helping book lovers discover great reads after FSoG. Over time, the page grew in popularity and spawned a website that listed the top 50 books and authors recommended and purchased by book lovers the world over.

This collection features 7 incredible books from the top of the WTRAFSOG chart. Each book is unique and has a theme of its own, from sweet to sinister, and everywhere in between.

Captive in the Dark by CJ Roberts—This New York Times Bestseller is the story of a young woman kidnapped and held hostage by a human trafficker out for revenge. Gritty, violent, and not for the faint of heart. 18+

Shades of Pearl by Arianne Richmonde— USA TODAY Bestselling novel. Just when Pearl has given up on love, sexy French billionaire Alexandre sweeps her off her feet with passion and intrigue. The catch? He’s fifteen years younger than she is. Ride this rollercoaster of sex, lies, heartache and love.

Double Occupancy by Elaine Raco Chase— Meet Casey Reynolds – she’s not thin, petite, clueless, virginal or submissive – but she is a burned out Pulitzer-Prize winning reporter who ends up reluctantly sharing a borrowed villa with a handsome stranger. Provocative, explicit but so much fun!

Floor Time by Liz Crowe— Jack and Sara bring the SEXY to real estate. Two successful, independent and complex adults with plenty of baggage have a single clichéd hookup that changes their worlds forever. Expect to get hooked on this compelling couple and their series.

Deadly Obsession by Kristine Cayne— When movie-star Nic Lamoureux meets photographer Lauren James, the attraction is instant–and mutual, but his stalker makes it deadly clear Lauren is the competition. And the competition must be eliminated.

Break Me Slowly by Joya Ryan— Adam Kinkade is a man used to getting what he wants. And he wants Katelyn—naked and often. Willing to stop at nothing to possess her, he relentlessly pursues Kate only to discover that it is she who possesses him—completely.

Summer’s Journey, Vol. 1-4 by Summer Daniels— Join Summer on her journey of sexual self-discovery; a well written, intelligent and sexy series about the beginning of her sensual, sultry love affair with life, and all the joys of being a woman.

FIVE STAR Review of Finding Spencer by Kimberly Knight

KK Finding SpencerWhen I heard that Kimberly was adding a series of novellas to the fantastic B&S Series I was over the moon. Then to hear that they were going to be from Brandon’s perspective, well that made my heart soar!

I loved the story from Spencer’s point of view in Where I Need To Be but to be treated to a big glimpse of the story from within Brandon’s mind has been a real treat. I have just finished reading my review copy of Finding Spencer and have utterly fallen in love again with Brandon. He fights hard and loves harder and to see what we see through his eyes has reaffirmed and reinvented the story for me!

I love that we see a lot of the key scenes between him and Spencer in Finding Spencer but it is refreshing to see how he reacted and felt. There are also gaps in the original story that are filled too as we get to see what happens when Brandon is away. I melted at times listening to his side of things and just how he felt about Spencer seriously had me in puddles! Don’t get me wrong, he’s sweet and caring but hot as hell too! I must admit this novella comes with its fair share of steamy scenes too and oh my god if I didn’t love him just that bit more for trying to hold out and keep to the three-date rule. You just feel for the poor guy and his sexual frustrations in the beginning!

I love the man banter with Jason too and his relationship with Becca in particular was very sweet. And his take on Christy, well all I will say is that if you hated her before, then you’ll absolutely loathe her after this!

One other thing I really liked was that, although we know the story already, Kimberly has highlighted the major scenes in Brandon’s POV but in no way does she totally re-write the entire book. Its not needed but what you do get is a glimpse of the man himself that will make you fall hard again!

I cannot wait for the next novella in this series and well done Kimberly on an amazing addition to the series.

Five stars doesn’t seem to be enough to truly appreciate being in Brandon’s head for a time!

excerpt

“How much longer will y’all be playing tonight?” She didn’t know what else to talk about but she also didn’t want to leave him right away.

“About another two hours,” he answered, and as if her question reminded him of the fact he should be on stage already, he motioned toward a swinging wooden door. “If you head through there, you’ll be right beside the stage. You know, just in case you’re interested in seeing the show up close.” He looked so hopeful she couldn’t help but laugh.

“I’m interested.” She left her answer hanging, hoping he got the hint she was interested in more than only his show. A look of pure wickedness crossed his face and she instantly regretted her words. There was something about him. It made her wonder if he was more than she could handle.

“Time to go, Wade!”

He glanced over her shoulder and motioned he was on his way to whoever yelled for him. A spike of longing hit her without warning. She didn’t want their time to end. When his eyes met hers, she wondered if he felt the same way. “Maybe I’ll see you afterwards,” she said attempting to keep the hope from her voice.

The bright lights from the stage flared to life and he smiled. The change in him was almost miraculous. She felt the happiness inside of him skyrocket, and she had to stop herself from pushing him toward the center of the stage in order to feed his obvious passion. “Go,” she said urging him on when he still hesitated. “You’re keeping me waiting. I’m excited to hear you sing.”

“Now how can I resist such a statement?”

“You don’t. Now go,” she ordered and he began walking backward toward the stage while keeping her in his line of sight. She wanted to laugh at the playful look on his face. When it became obvious, he wasn’t going to go away until she did, she shook her head and pushed her way through the swinging door.

“Morgan,” he called, stopping her. Looking back over her shoulder, she raised her eyebrows in question. “I’m interested,” he said causing her to freeze in her tracks and turn completely around. Without waiting for her to respond, he jogged onto the stage. She kept her eyes locked on the way his wrangler jeans hugged his sexy ass and his white t-shirt stretched across his shoulders until he was out of sight. She was in so much trouble with this one.

Brandon and Spencer’s story is already written. You know Spencer’s side of it. Now find out what Brandon was really thinking from the moment Spencer walked into Club 24.
Chapter #1

Do you ever think to yourself that something’s gotta
give?

I’m a successful business man, but my love life is the worst it has ever
been. I’m dating this chick who I have nothing in common with, and every time I
try to end things, she sneaks her way back in, and we have lousy make-up
sex.

I’m pretty sure she’s bipolar and hasn’t been diagnosed, yet. One minute
we’re watching some drama reality show—not my choice—and the next, she’s
accusing me of cheating on her. It’s like a broken record, and I’m tired of
hearing it.

“Baby, where are we having dinner tonight?” Christy, my soon-to-be ex-again,
asked.

“Can’t. Have to work—late.”

I’ve resorted to short, incomplete sentences with her. No matter what I’ve
said, she’s turned it around and tried to get me to do whatever she wanted. I
could probably speak Japanese and she would pretend I said that I wanted to
marry her instead of break up with her. I needed a plan to get her out of my
life forever—and fast!

“You always have to work late now. I thought you wanted to spend more time
with me?” Christy pouted, sticking out her bottom lip.

Spend more time with her? What the fuck? Hell no! I was lucky I’d never given
her a key or she would be over at my place every night. She was only at my place
now because I was horny as fuck and gave in to her temptation—again. I would
always give into her because work was stressful, and I needed the release.

“Jason and I are busy. We’re trying to open the new gym, you know that.”

That was just an excuse. Yes, Jason and I were opening a new gym, but most of
our business dealings were during normal business hours, and if I saw an email
after hours, then I answered it on my phone or from home. I could usually get
out of work by six at night, but I was just trying to get away from Christy and
I didn’t know how else to do it. I didn’t want to move. I loved my condo, but
moving might be the only option.

I didn’t like her anymore. She wasn’t really my type. I’ve always had a thing
for brunettes, and Christy was blonde and so fucking high maintenance, I wanted
to shoot myself. I loved the outdoors, sports, poker—Christy hated them all.

“Fine, I’ll come over tonight when you get home.”

“Christy, please. I need a night alone.”

“What the fuck, Brandon? Why are you being an asshole?”

“I’m not being an asshole. I just need some space.”

“Are you breaking up with me? Are you cheating on me?”

The first time Christy asked if I was breaking up with her, I made the
mistake of saying “yes”. I’m not going to make that mistake again. Her nails
hurt!

“I’m not cheating on you. I just need a night alone. Go hang out with your
friends. You know Mondays are busy for me.”

“Fine, but I want you all to myself this weekend since you’re going to Vegas
next weekend,” she said, coming up to give me a kiss.

Every ounce of me tried not to shudder under her touch. What was I doing? I
couldn’t stand to be touched by her, but at night I gave in to her come-ons?

I was certain God was looking out for me when I asked Christy if she wanted
to go to Vegas with us for my buddy’s birthday party a few weeks back. Christy
only wanted to come if we were going clubbing. I told her we were playing poker;
she turned her nose up and pouted for hours, and then accused me of cheating on
her—in the future. That should have been my sign to get the fuck out, but I
don’t listen sometimes. Christy has been nothing but trouble for me.

I didn’t respond to her about coming over for the weekend. I wasn’t going to
make any promises. I needed to talk to Becca, one of my best friends, and ask
her how I was going to get rid of Christy—for good.

*~*~*

“What’s wrong with you?” Jason, my best friend, asked as he leaned into my
office.

“Christy…” I groaned.

“I thought you were dumping her?”

“I tried—again.”

Jason sat in the chair in front of my desk. We had been friends since
college. He met his wife, Becca, at Texas A&M where we all attended, and the
three of us had been friends ever since. We were business partners now; I was
the Best Man at their wedding and lived with them when we first moved to San
Francisco.

They’ve been through all my ups and downs, especially in college when some
asshole started a fight with me and Jason and broke my back because our football
coach named me starting quarterback and not him. Jason and Becca were more than
friends—they were like my brother and sister.

“What happened this time?” Jason asked, crossing his arms over his chest.

“When I told her that I was done, she cried and wouldn’t leave my place.”

“Dump her at her place.”

“I tried,” I said, burying my head in my hands. “She just follows me home and
then begs and begs—promising all these sexual acts that she ends up not
doing.”

Jason busted out laughing. “Oh man, that’s good!”

“Fuck you!” I said, throwing my pen at him.

“What’s so funny in here?” Becca asked, walking into my office.

“Brandon can’t get rid of Christy,” Jason told his wife.

I gave Becca a brief rundown of my obsessed girlfriend while she and
Jason laughed at me. It kinda sucks being single sometimes. I’ve always wished I
had what they had, but I haven’t been so lucky. I was close once, but then found
out the girl cheated on me one drunken night, and since then I’ve guarded my
heart.

I’ve only been dating Christy a few months. I don’t love her. Never have. I’m
not even sure what attracted me to her. She’s not my type. I want a girl that is
down to earth, loves sports, doesn’t care if I go mountain biking with Jason
every weekend and wants me for me and not for my money or a free gym
membership.

You would think that I have women fawning all over me. I’m so busy with work,
that I haven’t had time to go out and meet anyone new. It was easy for me to
call Christy, get off like I needed, but it has come to the point where she made
my skin crawl.

I met her at a bar one night. Maybe it was the way she rubbed her ass on my
dick that made me want to fuck her that night—yep, that was it—but since then, I
haven’t gotten rid of her.

“Maybe it’s time to get a restraining order?” Becca asked.

“Or move back to Austin,” Jason said.

“I’m not moving back to Texas. I like it here. Plus, the Giants are way
better than the Astros.”

“But they have our Cowboys,” Jason said while Becca was looking at her
phone.

“You want me to run our Austin gym again?” I asked.

We currently have four gyms. One in Austin, one in Houston, one in Denver and
the one here in San Francisco. In January, we hope to open a new one in Seattle.
The current property is in foreclosure, and our real estate guy, Paul, was
working his magic to get us a good deal. Everything is included in the sale
since it’s currently a gym, so we won’t have to spend a lot of time setting
everything up. We will just need to add our signature touches like a spa, beach
volleyball and basketball courts, with our operating hours extending to be
twenty-four hours a day.

“You’re not going back to Texas,” Becca said. “This is what you do. You tell
your door guy to not let her in…”

“Done that,” I said, cutting her off. “But somehow she gets in.”

“You tell them that if they see her on the property, then to call the cops.
You tell Christy that, too. Tell her if she shows up again, the cops will be
called and you’ll be getting a restraining order.”

“That’s so harsh,” I said.

“It’s either that or her sleeping in front of your door every night.”

“Why do I always have to find the crazies?”

“Your luck will change, B. You just need to get Christy out of the picture
and let that special someone into your life,” Becca said, patting my shoulder to
comfort me.

*~*~*

Christy: What time are you getting off?

Jesus, fucking Christ! Didn’t we have this conversation this morning? I’m
not answering her.

And I didn’t.

She texted again.

Christy: I miss you already. I can’t go a night without you.

I groaned, throwing my phone on my desk and continued working.

Christy: Why aren’t you answering me? You better not be cheating on me.
I’ll hunt that bitch down!

I decided to text her back. My luck, she
would show up at the gym and cause a big scene. Couldn’t have our clients seeing
that shit.

Me: I’m not cheating on you. I’m at work. BUSY!

Christy: I’ll be at your place tonight at 10.

Why do I seriously find the clingiest women in the world? Fucking
hell!

Me: Might not be home.

Christy: I’ll come by the gym.

No!

Me: Might not be at the gym, either.

Christy: So you ARE cheating on me?

Me: Christy, I have friends…not just you. And no, for the last time, I’m
not cheating on you. I have a meeting.

*~*~*

I didn’t hear back from Christy. I already knew that she would be at my place
when I got home. I needed to be a fucking man and just break up with her for
good. I needed to listen to my head and my heart—not my dick.

At five-thirty, Jason stuck his head in my office. “Going home.”

“I’m doing it. Breaking up with Christy for good tonight.”

“Right…” Jason said with a laugh.

“How is it out there? I think I need to burn off some pent-up energy so I
don’t agree to let her suck my dick.”

Being a fairly new gym in the area, Jason and I created two-week trial
passes. We expected a lot of the after work crowd to show—and they had been for
the last few weeks. Each Monday seemed to bring out more people trying to start
their week off right.

“Fairly busy, but not full.”

We stepped out of my office that overlooked the floor. I scanned the area,
seeing people taking advantage of our smoothie bar, standing in line for
racquetball and enjoying our equipment and weights.

“Nice. I’m going to work out.”

Usually we don’t work out when it’s busy, but I needed to really get my head
screwed on straight. A good run always cleared my head.

Running, not sex Brandon!

As I continued to look over the floor, my eyes drifted to the treadmills to
see if any were open. That was when I saw her.

“Have you seen her before?” I asked Jason.

“Who?”

“Her.” I pointed to the brunette I’d never seen before, running on the
treadmill.

“No, never seen her before. Why?”

“Because—I’m going to marry her,” I said, walking away and not waiting for
him to respond.

Book Title: Jahleel
Author: S. Ann Cole
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: April 8, 2014
Hosted by: Book Enthusiast Promotions

Synopsis

A TRUE-ly fabricated story about Love & Obsession…

I’m an idiot.
I’m too stupid to be human. Too stupid to live.
I lack common sense.

I used to be a normal human being. Until the guy in the red hoodie. Just a glance, and I was owned. Enslaved.

What’s worst? He didn’t even notice me.

Yep. You guessed right: I’m delusional. I’m obsessed. I’m a stalker. A martyr. A masochist.

I’ve allowed my obsession to lead me down into a deep, dark pit, selfishly hurting everyone around me, and only his requited love can pull me out of it.

But I won’t apologize for it. I won’t apologize for being in love with Jahleel Kingston.
I’ve loved him at first sight. I’ve loved him for five empty years. I’ve loved him through all his bullcrap and asshole-isms.

I love him even now.

My name is Saskia Day. I’m British. I’m famous. I’m stinking rich. And this is my pathetic story.

Read at your own bloody risk.

Meet the Author

“S. Ann Cole is a passionate writer and reader, and a lover of anything that distracts her from the real world. Reader first and second a writer, S. Ann Cole is an exaggerator, a laugher, sometimes overly chatty, sometimes overly shy. She believes cats are evil, and also detests dogs with a bitter passion, mainly because she’d been bitten over a dozen times on separate occasions by the rambunctious creatures in her formative years (even by her own dogs, and she’s got the marks to show!)

Ann is not your typical girl: she hates chocolate, candle-lit dinners and all that hearts and flowers stuff makes her feel awkward, and coffee makes her drowsier than ever.

A lover of all things ‘romance’, Ann has always been a writer of poetries and songs of any kind. All who’s acquainted with Ann can attest to witnessing her write her way through life: through destruction, devastation, hardship, sadness and disappointments, her coping mechanism has always been writing.

Having an obsessive and unquenchable affair with the written word, she’s naturally a recluse who dwells inside her imagination and has to suffer continual bashings from her friends for being a neglectful pal who does nothing but sit around the computer all day, writing.

When she’s not abusing her computer keyboard, you can find her nosing a novel, watching anything on television that makes her laugh out loud, studying the Bible, or nursing any of the three alcoholic beverages: Black Label and Coke, Heineken, or a glass of Merlot.

excerpt

“I’ve missed you,” I confessed to my Clarks.

A finger nestled under my chin and elevated it so I was looking at him. “What exactly have you missed, Sassy?”

His expression was one of curiosity, test and confrontation, as though wondering what was there to miss about him when we were nothing to each other and spent little time together creating memories, or moments to miss.

There was nothing to answer with, because I, in truth, didn’t know what I missed. Except that I missed him. All of him. Him being a walking contradiction. His playing, his teasing, his eyes on me…as they were at that moment.

Those unique gold irises studied me. Sandy-brown waves of his silky hair suppressed by his cap, the visor created a light shadow over his face, lending him a brooding bad boy look. I itched to take off his cap and ruffle his hair until it bounced back into free, unsuppressed impeccability.

When he realized I was speech-impeded, unable to answer him, he leaned forward, elbows on his knees, and asked, “You did Twelfth Night in school, Sassy?”

‘If music be the food of love, play on’,” I quoted.

Nodding, he asked, “What’s your take on Orsino and Olivia?”

Huh? “Um, I dunno…Orsino was obsessed and madly in love with Olivia. He…spent his time lying around daydreaming and fantasizing, listening to music and spewing poems about love, pining for Olivia. Often he would send Cesario to deliver his proclamations of his love for her…I…I don’t know…”

“And Cesario always failed to get through to Olivia, right?”

“Right.”

“And what did Orsino do about this so-called love and obsession himself?”

Was I in high school or something? “Nothing. Lay around and pine because he was obsessed with love, all things of and about love, and the concept of desire and need.”

“As a highly respected nobleman with a title, ‘Duke’ Orsino, what could he have done?”

“Gone to her himself and demanded her?”

I guess I answered correctly, because he leaned back in his chair and studied me for a moment before asking, “So, tell me, do you think he was really in love/obsessed with her, or did he just like the idea of being in love/obsessed with her?”

Tired of getting drilled, I rubbed my eyes and whined, “I don’t know, JK. I usually got C-D in all things Shakespeare.”

Maybe there was a point somewhere in all of this, something he was trying to tell me, but I was too hungry and knackered to rack my brain further about Shakespeare’s mindfuck of plays.

Leaning forward once more, he whispered with a steady air of confidence, as someone not fascinated with an idea, but with the real deal, “Let me tell you what I miss, Saskia: I miss those wide, passive, all-consuming grey eyes looking at me. I miss that puckered point on those perfect full lips. I miss how your nostrils flare, the way they turn bright red around the rims when you crave having me inside you. I miss those long lashes, how beautifully dark they are, the way they fan your cheeks when you sleep. I miss your silky smooth skin sliding against mine. I miss your raspy voice. I miss watching you dream about me, whispering my name in your sleep. I miss cuddling with you, laughing with you, teasing you, pissing you off. And most of all, I miss watching your heart.”

Holy crap.

Sucking in a sharp breath, I got out, “Watching my heart?”

“Yes,” he said definitively, leaning further over to me.

He pressed two fingers to the base of my neck where my collarbone parted, leaving that soft little dip.

“Right here,” he whispered. “I watch your heart right here. Your skin is so delicate, that whether your heart beats once or twice, skips a beat or pounds erratically, this little dip right here moves in sync. It’s fascinating. You’re a rare treat, Sassy.”

Lost for words, I stared back at him. Who knew he was so attentive to detail? So…aware? Half the time he seemed not to give a crap about anything. Yet now he was telling me he missed watching my heart? How the hell do I respond to that?

I fought to keep my breathing under control so my ‘heart’ wouldn’t rat on me. But it was pointless, because he would know I was trying to ‘hide’ my heart. Maybe I should start wearing scarfs. But then, my nostrils also ratted on me, so should I start wearing gas masks, too?

Jahleel dipped his head and chuckled lightly at his own private joke, then glanced back up at me. “You hungry?”

Oh, how bloody hungry I was. Raw. Rabid. “Yes.”

As he stood up from the chair, his eyes read mine, knowing damn well I wasn’t talking about food. “Gather your bearings, fair lady,” he joked, still with his secret humour. “Meet you outside.”

I watched his retreating form as he navigated through the room and spotted Derek’s assistant arch a brow at him. Right as he was about to pass by her, she scuttled to his side. She grabbed his bicep to stop him, speaking the words of a slut no doubt, fluttering her lashes at him.

Feeling eyes on me, I glanced over to Derek and found him watching me with a smirk. Indeed, I’d pretended I didn’t know Jahleel, then snapped at Derek for harbouring him on the set, next I was hyper-bloody-ventilating with him in a corner. Sure, anyone with half a brain would’ve figured it out.

With a roll of my eyes, I waved off Derek and looked back to Jahleel and the eager hoe.

Once Jahleel started his famous lip biting thing, I shot up from the chair and gathered my motherfucking bearings.

Book Title: Death has a Daughter
Author: Candice Burnett
Genre: Young Adult
Release Date: March 31, 2014
Hosted by: Book Enthusiast Promotions

Synopsis

Cendall, history’s first female Grim Reaper, has until her eighteenth birthday to prove she’s worthy of the role. The only obstacle in her way are those pesky Guardian Angels who protect human souls, but Cendall is certain she can handle any Guardian who gets in her way. However, nothing could have prepared Cendall for Lacie—a soul that is protected by multiple Guardians, wanted by Demons, and, most startling of all, can see Cendall.

Cendall uses every trick in the book to try and slip past Lacie’s Guardians and collect her soul, but a Demon interferes at the last moment. In the chaos, Cendall accidently saves Lacie’s soul, along with one of the injured Guardians. Realizing Cendall fears termination for her mistake, the Guardian blackmails her with an offer she can’t refuse: in exchange for his silence, Cendall must keep Lacie’s soul safe from the Demon, until he recovers from his injuries.

Cendall agrees—with the intention of checking Lacie’s soul off her list, the instant the Guardian is healed. But as the three of them are forced to work together, Cendall begins to question why Lacie is wanted by the Demons and if her name actually belonged on Cendall’s list in the first place…

excerpt

Prologue

Ever had the feeling that someone was watching over your shoulder protecting you? Or, perhaps, had a time that you sensed some invisible force was there to save your life? A time when all the facts say you shouldn’t be alive, but, by some ‘miracle,’ you are still breathing? Some call them acts of God, while others say they were rescued by their guardian angels. They are partially correct.

You see, there are many times in a human’s life when they have these near-death experiences. Sometimes people are aware of it, while, other times, it is there and gone in a blink of an eye, without them having a second thought. We call these ‘vulnerable’ moments in a soul’s existence.

During these times, a battle rages on between two forces that are invisible to the human eye. One force being those we call ‘Guardians.’ When Guardians win the battle, you hear these amazing stories of humans escaping death. When ‘my kind’ wins, there is no story to tell. Some call us ‘Angels of Death.’ I just prefer ‘Reaper,’ but if you really want to be technical, you can throw the word ‘Grim’ in front of my name.

People call us evil, but there are two sides to every story, and considering I’m history’s first female Grim Reaper, I can’t wait to begin mine.

Lex may not pertain to those with HIV or Aids status, but it is about accepting who you are, it’s about overcoming all odds and moving forward with your life. This book is about being proud of yourself and those around you who are different or have been through things you can’t even fathom. That is why I choose this book to help raise money for a cause dear to my heart.
I never thought as a child I would be faced with many of things I have, as I am sure many people can say the same. So for that special person in my life, I want to say thank you for being there.
