Krissy is a mother to two young children, who in turn keep her young. She live’s in Dublin, Ireland but, isn’t originally from South Devon in the UK. Krissy work’s full time in a pharmacy and write in her spare time, whenever the urge takes me.

She has always been interested in reading from a young age, 2 years ago she was given a kindle as a present and it was the best thing that happened to her. She was able to read lots of books ever week and then she started to write reviews for all the books she read.

She then took it one step further and started her own Facebook page – Sparkling Pink Bookshelf, she intended to upload all of my reviews for the books she has read. This was purely for pleasure at that stage. She answered a post on Facebook for someone to read for reviews and thought she had died and gone to heaven. She was reading about 7/8 books a week, the kindle made this achievable. She would read at any opportunity she was able to, even staying up til the small hours to finish a book. She loved it. Then one day she was asked to beta read a book – she love’s this side of it, it was so exciting. She has worked with a number of indie authors and has remained loyal to a few select authors and she beta read all their books.

After a year or more of doing this, She thought maybe she could write some of the stories that were in her head and she just decided to write and see what happened. she wrote about 70% of a story and then saw a post for the NaNoWriMo competition – to write 50,000 words in 30 days, She decided that this was a challenge she wanted to take and the Til Death Us Do Part series was born.

She is always thinking of situations that be turned into a story and have started a few stories, which in turn will be completed and released to her readers.

NICOLA HAKEN Blog tour for Never Let Go with Exclusive Interview

never Let Go Blog TourSynopsis

In the final book of the Take My Series, Emily and Dexter are finally on course to a happy future. Arriving back in the UK with Aunt Sarah in tow, everything seems to be slotting into place. For the first time in his life, Dexter has found his purpose. Surrounded by family, friends and the woman he adores, he has at long last made peace with his demons and is determined to fight for the life he now knows he deserves.

With best friend Rachel back by her side and a resolve to work things out with her parents once and for all, Emily’s life is also on the right track. Or so she thinks… When a tragic revelation threatens to destroy Emily’s world, it sends her spiraling down a path leading to more secrets, lies and heartache – leaving her questioning her whole life and everyone in it. To top it off, Emily almost lost one of the most important men in her life once before, is it about to happen again? “This is it, doll. Our future. I need you to hold on to it and never let go.”

NH Excerpt

“I don’t have time for this, Dad,” I muttered on a heavy sigh.

“Please, son. Don’t go, not yet. Let’s have another coffee, then if you still feel the same, we’ll go back to how things were. Apart.”

“No, I don’t mean right now. I mean I really haven’t got time to keep hating you. There are so many things wrong with what you’ve just told me, there are three thousand reasons why I should walk out of here and never look back, and I genuinely don’t know how you can ever make this right with Emmie. But… I won’t be here in twelve months time, Dad. I can’t spend those months fighting with you – reasoning with you… struggling to understand what you did.

“In order for me to have any hope of enjoying these next few months of life, I can’t afford to dwell on the past. I don’t understand the decisions you’ve made in your life, Dad, but I accept them, and… I forgive you.”

I noticed tears bubbling up in the corners of my dad’s eyes and I had to force myself to look away before mine started falling too. It took all my strength not to be mad at him. Why couldn’t he have done this years ago? Back when I really needed him.

“And they’re sure? The doctors?” he asked with a slight tremor in his voice. Why does everyone ask that? It seems like doctors are classed as superheroes until they tell you something bad.

“Positive. I had my first chemo session a couple of weeks ago. I have another in two days. That should slow it down… but only by a few months and nothing’s guaranteed.”

“Months?” he repeated – barely a whisper. I noticed my dad look down at his mug and I suspected it was to hide his suddenly damp eyelashes. “Christopher…” he breathed, refusing to look at me. “I don’t want to lose you too.”

What the hell was I supposed to say to that? ‘Oh okay then, Dad. I’ll stay alive just for you.’ I knew my anger was unjustified and so I swallowed it down with a sip of coffee.

“I don’t want it either,” I admitted.

“I’m so sorry, son. I’ve missed out on so much. I don’t deserve to be a father.”

“Whoa,” I said, straightening my back in my chair. “Don’t you start the feeling sorry for yourself bullshit. Whether you deserve to be or not, you are a father. So if your next line was going to be that you’d be better off leaving Emmie to get on with her life without you, don’t you dare. Don’t you fucking dare. You’ve let us both down, Dad. It might be too late to make it up to me but you better spend every single day of the rest of your life making it up to Emily.”

“I will. I swear I will.”

I planned to just sit around until I felt composed enough to face the world again, but with every blink visions of beautiful white lines and glasses of clear liquid numbness overwhelmed my mind. So, I did the only thing that ever manages to stop me from thinking – I changed into my sweats, headed outside and ran.

I didn’t have a destination in mind. In fact, I didn’t even recognize half the streets I flew through. I just ran. I ran until my thighs began to burn and my chest started to ache. I ran until all I could focus on was my rapid breathing and my numb toes. I ran until I couldn’t remember why I was even running.

Then my cell chimed in my pocket, dragging me back to reality.

“Hey, doll,” I answered breathlessly after seeing Emily’s name illuminate the screen.

“Where are you? Chris said you came home.”

“Where are you?” I returned quizzically.

“At home. Waiting for you.”

“I just came out for a run. I’ll make my way back now.”

“Are you okay?” she asked instead of saying goodbye. Of course, Emily is the only person that can read me like a fucking book.

“Not really,” I admitted. The truth – that’s the only way our future together would survive. “We’ll talk when I get home. Ten minutes max.”

“Ok. Don’t ever forget that I love you.” Hearing those words, my heart vibrated in my chest – reminding me why I was alive. I remember the very first time I said those words to her, and no matter how hard I pushed, she never forgot.

And neither will I.

“Ditto,” I replied, emotion clogging my throat and making coherent words impossible.

After tucking my cell back in my pocket, I doubled over and braced my hands on my knees while I dragged in a few much needed breaths. Then, straightening up, I stretched my neck from side to side and set off back to break my girls heart.

NH review

WARNING shares in Kleenex needed. And I’ve devoured at least two tubs of Ben and Jerrys whilst reading this amazing finale to the Take My Hand series.

What a climax it has been and the perfect ending to a series I have been divested in for a few good long months. Nicola has pulled it out of the bag in Never Let Go and all loose ends are tidied, put away and filed neatly leaving you with an full heart and empty eyes!

The romance between Emily and Dex has blossomed and is finally on the right track only to be blown apart by Chris’s announcement. Dex finally grows and develops into the man we all knew he could be and steps in to be the pillar that Emily needs. Life isn’t easy and although their story finally heads in the right direction you still feel every battle Dex has to stay clean and be the man Emily needs. It’s real and heart wrenching but it really endears him to me more for showing his vulnerabilities.

Rachel and Jared find their way in life and bring to the story the humour we have grown to love from the pair. Impending parenthood for the couple brings with it a whole bunch of Jared-isms that at times had me in utter stitches! I love Jared and Rachel!

This brings us to Chris, Emily’s brother and only close family member. Tragically he is ill and it is inevitable from the outset he won’t make it. This adds a huge dimension to the final installment of this series and brings with it some pretty huge secrets and revelations. You will have to read it to find out what Nicola throws at you but be aware there are a few twists to come!

And finally let’s not forget Aunt Sarah, bless her, Dex’s rock and the apple of his eye. She finally gets to see him grow up and also finds happiness herself.   She has been such an important rock for him it really warmed me to think she was well looked after by Nicola too!

This was truly a great ending to a great series and even though Chris was never destined to make it, even his end was truly dignified. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried and I’ve finished feeling totally satisfied too! I miss these guys….

Well done Nicola and a massive 5 out of 5 AWESOME stars!

Meet the Author

Nicola HakenNicola lives in Rochdale, England with her husband and four children (six if you include the dogs!) She is the author of New Adult/Contemporary romance novels Inevitable, Saving Amy and the Take My Hand series. When she is not busy playing with her imaginary book friends (or talking about them with real life friends!) she can usually be found carrying out her ordinary mum/housewife/all round slave duties. Oh, and if the kids ever ask, she moonlights as the Pink Power Ranger while they’re sleeping…

NH Interview

The awesome Nicola Haken took some time out of her busy schedule of surfing Jake Bass and the rest of the CockyBoys to give us an exclusive interview! Meet Nicola Haken!

Congratulations! You’ve been published for a year now and have six amazing books under your belt – did you ever think you’d have come so far in such a short time?

I really truly didn’t! I remember squealing so loud someone in New York closed their windows the first time I made a sale that wasn’t my friend or family haha! I didn’t expect it to be so much fun either. I’ve met so many amazing people (like you!). But I also have to say, being an author has turned me into such a dirty hussy 😉

Just released, Never Let Go is the final installment in the Take My Hand series. Did you cry as much writing it as I did when I read it?

I actually did cry writing that one and it was the first time my own words have made me so emotional! When I’m writing I often close my eyes and ‘be’ the character, playing the story out like a movie in my head. Being Dexter, Emily and Chris, and ‘feeling’ what they were going through was extremely raw!

It really was the perfect end to the series and even though my heart broke I forgive you! Can I just ask though, why Curry flavoured pot noodle?

I have no idea. I don’t even like Pot Noodles!! I’m assuming it was because Rachel came across as a typical student. And students are too lazy to make anything else right? *hides from all the students of the world*

And of all the places in the world Dex and Emily could go skinny-dipping, why Blackpool?

Well skinning dipping on Brighton beach was on Emily’s New Life list that was devised by Rachel. They didn’t make it back to Brighton once Emily and Dexter moved in with Chris so Blackpool was the closest. But I feel the responsible thing to do here would be to warn people that I would NEVER advise getting naked in Blackpool sea. It’s filthy! *hides from all the Blackpool folk* Do you think I might be pissing a lot of people off with these answers? 😉

I also have a slight crush on Jared too! He and Rachel seem really well paired and without spoiling it for others, there are a couple of name choices relating to them that I found familiar! On that note, have any other books you’ve read influenced your work or for you to write?

I honestly don’t know which names you mean! (Rachel’s babies..?) Either I haven’t read the books you’re referring to or I’ve forgot… the latter seems more likely! I get a LOT of inspiration from other books. Not the storylines before I land myself in court haha! But the way characters interact with other gets my own mind spinning and then ideas and stories stem from there.

Did you cringe the first time you wrote a sex scene?

Oh God yes! And it took me sooooo long and about fifty rewrites! I literally squirmed in my seat writing it and the idea that anyone might read it absolutely mortified me! But like I said earlier, being an author has done terrible things to my mind. Each scene got easier and now I can reel of a completely filthy, make your eyes water, make you so hot you need a Tena Lady, scene in a matter of minutes 😉

I know that you have a new book in the pipeline that I cannot wait to read! What made you decide to change genres and write about Sawyer?

We talked about books that influenced me before and that’s the reason. I started writing New Adult mainly because I used to love reading it, and also because I wasn’t brave enough to go for anything too racy! But then I started reading m/m and I became instantly addicted. Reading about two men together just sent me crazy! It was so hot, sensual and unlike anything I’d ever read before. So I thought, hell I need to give that a whirl. Of course, now I am addicted to gay porn too. Oh, and I also cry myself to sleep at night because I want a cock of my very own and I’ll never have one L Thankfully, my husband has always known I’m a little (okay, a LOT) crazy so I’ve no worries there!

Ok so in for the kill, some quick fire questions for you to answer now!

Favourite:

… book you’ve written? Being Sawyer Knight

… book boyfriend from your own books? Sawyer Knight (do you see where this is going?) Very closely followed by Dexter!

…book boyfriend from another author? Questions like that should be illegal!! Okay, I’m not counting Christian Grey and Edward Cullen because no one can compete with them and it’s not fair, so apart from them…. Austin Grainger from Texas Pride by Kindle Alexander.

… genre to read? M/M

… author? Kindle Alexander

… position in bed? Lay down with CockyBoys playing on the laptop and my hand under the quilt 😉

… flavour of condom? I prefer au naturel 😉

 … CockyBoy? JAKE BASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

… bodypart? My huge coc- oh wait. I don’t have one. Damn.

And finally a few questions I bet you’ve never been asked by a blogger?!

What size is your bed? Super king sized

Is it ok for men to wear pink? Yes! I love men in pink!

Do you like to use post-it notes? (I can think of a good use for one!) Like, to hide the willy’s on my CockyBoys calendar from the kids?? 🙂

What do you dip a chicken nugget in? Tomato sauce

Would you ever strip or pose nude in a magazine? I totally would…. However I’m not sure it’s something people would actually want to see!

Ok let me rephrase that would you ever strip or pose naked in a magazine if Jake Bass was with you? I’d do a helluva lot more than just strip 😉

Do you sing in the shower? Always!

Do you take a vitamin daily? No. Not unless there are vitamins in chocolate.

Can you hold your breath without holding your nose? Can’t everyone???!

You so tried that last one didn’t you?! Yes I so did! Only because I didn’t understand how anyone couldn’t haha!

Synopsis
Spencer Marshall was done moping. After catching her boyfriend cheating with his secretary, she decides to have a girl’s weekend in Vegas with her best friend Ryan. Quotes

“Me: OMFG, I have my very own Gideon Cross at the gym. Hot guy running on the treadmill next to me! :)”

“His tattoo was on the upper right side of his abs. While tracing my fingers over the script I read it to myself: Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.

“Nothing else matters except you, Spencer. Nothing. You’re what I want, what I need. Where you are is where I need to be. I need you here in my life with me.”

(by Kimberly Knight)

My Review

5 Star review of Where I Need to Be by Kimberly Knight

Right, after finishing this I am off to join the gym! If the thought of meeting Brandon is the incentive anyway! Holy hotness!

In this steamy debut novel by Kimberly Knight we meet Spencer, a recently heartbroken an assistant to an Ad exec who recently discovered “The love of her life”  – TravAss (love that nickname!) in a compromising position with his secretary!

And in an attempt to lure her away from the ice-cream depression she’s landed in her BFF, partner in crime and voice of reason Ryan convinces her to the gym (which is more for business than pleasure to begin with)… and from there her life takes off!

In walks Brandon, the hot new love interest and from almost the moment we are thrown in to the story he becomes an object of her desire.   Without giving too much away he is more of a permanent fixture at the gym and jeez, if Club 24 was just round the corner to me I’d be signing up to join ASAP!

And, even though I live in the UK I’m definitely heading to Las Vegas!  A girly weekend away turns what should be a pretty innocent girls dance session and a coincidental meeting in a nightclub into the steamiest dance scene I have ever read… I will say no more but phew that was one hot scene!

I love the chemistry between Brandon and Spencer and also her relationship with her friend Ryan.  The story also kept me on my toes too with the emergence of other characters that are hell bent on making life difficult for Brandon and Spencer.  I really want to say more but don’t want to say too much more for fear of spoiling the story! I read this book in one sitting and my heart was totally in my throat at the end.  It ends leaving you wanting and needing more!

I cannot wait for book two (Wanted) and to see where the future will take Brandon and Spencer!

Five sizzling stars!

Synopsis
From the moment she first saw him running on the treadmill next to her, Spencer Marshall had fallen head over heels in love with Brandon Montgomery. After Spencer has a near-death experience she would rather forget, they do their best to move on with their lives, leaving their past behind them.
Thankful for a fresh start and eager to move on with her life, Spencer focuses on helping her best friend Ryan Kennedy plan her wedding. Everything seems to be going as planned when someone from Brandon’s past reappears. Can Spencer and Brandon survive the coming days as they struggle to deal with ghosts from the past?
Excerpts

Brandon drove me down to the police station for the formal interview that afternoon. The investigating officer told me that Christy was still pretty beaten up from the fall and subsequent surgery she had to endure from the stab wound. Apparently, she had punctured her liver and would be in the hospital for at least a few more days –– enough time for the police to get all their ducks in a row. I really didn’t want to rehash the incident, but I knew it had to be done. After an hour and a half of me recounting the events, Brandon and I made our way to Macy’s at Union Square to get my mind off everything.

Macy’s at Union Square covers an entire block.  Although I wanted to go crazy and buy the whole store, I had to remember that for the next few months my tiny closet was going to need to hold both my and Brandon’s clothes.

“Okay, all I really need is another nice dress so I don’t keep wearing the same one over and over again,” I said to Brandon as we rode the escalator up to the Women’s department.

“Whatever you want, Babe.”

“Are you sure you want to do this? Most guys seem to hate shopping.”

“Oh I do, but I want to be with you, so I don’t mind.”

“Alright, well I don’t want to hear any whining,” I said as I stuck out my tongue at him.

“And what if I do?” Brandon asked, smirking at me.

“Then… then… shit, I don’t know. Don’t give me that look, it drives me crazy and I can’t think straight.”

“Drives you crazy good or drives you crazy bad?”

“Good,” I said as I blushed and tried to swat Brandon’s arm, but he caught my wrist midair and pulled me to him for a quick kiss.

As we browsed around Macy’s, I decided that I should be looking specifically for a dress for my company holiday party, as it was the next big event that I needed to attend.

I picked out a few dresses and told Brandon that I was going to try them on in the dressing room. The first dress I tried on was a metallic champagne A-line dress. Brandon said he liked it, but I wasn’t feeling it. Next, I tried on a sleeveless dress made with sequined Graphite Grey satin; Brandon liked it as well, but it just wasn’t calling my name.

Finally, I tried on the last dress. It was strapless and made of ivory lace in the pattern of roses with a few ruffles down the front starting at the waist. It was accented with a removable cream-colored belt. I think this is the one. I stepped out to show Brandon. As soon as his face lit up, I knew I had found the one.

“You like?” I asked as I did a little twirl so he could see the back.

“Yes, I like—a lot!” Brandon stood up and walked over to me.

“Yeah, I think this is it.”

“I need further convincing.”

“What?”

He grabbed my hand to lead me back into the dressing room and locked the door behind him.

“What are you doing?” I whispered.

Without answering, he spun me around and pushed me up against the fitting room mirror. My hands slammed into the mirror to brace myself as I felt Brandon’s hard erection against my ass. He moved my hair the side and kissed the side of my neck all the way down to the top of my shoulder, making the little hairs on the back of my neck stand at attention.

“Babe, we’re in a public dressing room,” I panted in a whisper.

“Shh,” he said as he continued to kiss my neck and shoulder. His hand reached around my side as he slowly slid the dress up my thigh inch by inch.

“Babe…” I said in warning.

“Shh.”

His hand glided up my bare thigh and my breath caught when I felt his hand slowly slide into my panties. “Oh God,” I quietly groaned.

Brandon bit lightly on my right earlobe as he started teasing my clit with one of his fingers. I steadied myself with one arm on the mirror, resting my head on his chest as I reached up and grazed my other hand through his soft hair on the back of his neck. His finger slid through my slick wetness before sinking into me as I lifted my leg onto the bench, wanting more. I couldn’t help it ––Brandon brought out the exhibitionist in me. His touch was all I needed to forget everything around me.

“I can’t keep my hands off of you when you wear a dress,” he whispered in my ear, causing my body to shiver as his breath touched my skin.

“Uh huh,” I mumbled. Not only could I barely talk because of the intense pleasure running through my body, but we were in a public dressing room in the middle of the day. I was both terrified and aroused by the thought that we could be caught at any second.

He continued creating circles around my aching clit with one finger as another of his fingers moved rhythmically inside my pussy over and over.  His hard cock was still pressed into my ass. Lifting my head from his chest and moving forward a step, I slid my hand from the back of his neck. Then I reached down behind me and rubbed his erection through his jeans.

“Don’t start something you can’t finish,” he said, whispering in my ear again.

Ha, talk about calling the kettle black! I continued to stroke him as he brought my body closer to its release. I planned to finish him––I needed to finish him. He reached around and slipped his hand into the top of the dress, his fingers easily sliding beneath the silky material of my bra. He began to caress my right breast and roll the already hardened nipple between his fingers, sending my body into overdrive. I came around his finger, my belly clenching as the climax shot through me.

We stood there like that for a moment while I caught my breath, then Brandon slowly removed his hand from my panties. We heard the door next to us close as someone entered the dressing stall. I couldn’t believe what we had just done together in a public dressing room.  It was exhilarating and slightly dangerous and I felt wonderfully alive, but we weren’t quite done.  I turned around and began to undo his belt.

He caught my hands in his for a moment and raised an eyebrow at me as he nodded his head in the direction of the stall next to us. I grinned wickedly and held a finger to my lips, then made quick work of his belt and unbuttoned his jeans. Sliding the zipper down enough to reach inside, I grabbed his length, causing it to twitch in response. Brandon sat on the bench, his erection growing bigger as I ran my hand up and down around it, milking him.

I saw a drop of his pre-cum glisten, reflecting the fluorescent lights above. I bent down on my knees and lowered my head as I licked the tip, tasting his salty goodness. We heard the lady leave the stall next to us and I almost giggled in relief.  He sucked in a sharp breath when my wet tongue swirled around the head. He grabbed the back of my ponytail and guided my head as I bobbed up and down, sucking him over and over. I took him deeper and deeper into my throat until his body tightened and then convulsed slightly as he spurted hot cum down the back of my throat. He grunted slightly with his teeth gritted as he came, his eyes closed as he fought against groaning in pleasure.

“Well… guess I’m buying this dress,” I said, laughing as I stood up.

My Review

5 Star review of Wanted by Kimberly Knight

This installment in the B&S Series follows on directly from the end of Where I Need To Be and continues the journey of Brandon and Spencer.

I went into the book hoping that love will finally run smooth for the pair and you do get to see a lot more of their cute couple status in this installment!

After the drama at the end of Where I need to Be life slips into a routine for both Brandon and Spencer and with a whirlwind of planning Ryan’s wedding to Max and Brandon expanding his gym business you begin to feel a sense of things hopefully falling into place for the couple.

I really fell for Brandon again with his uber sweetness and also some amazingly hot and funny scenes too! During the course of this book and again we meet his family plus the “errant” brother, Blake, too.  I loved his family in the first nook but meeting them again made you feel like you get to know him a little better too!

However, as you would expect from any good story the course of true love NEVER runs smoothly and without giving too much away, we readers are once again thrown from the happy trail into some more nail – biting tension.

I again devoured this book in one sitting and enjoyed it because it develops the characters from Where I Need to Be but also ends leaving you with a cliffhanger of sorts when everything seems to be falling back into place for the relatively unlucky in love couple!  Just who is at the door now?!

I was lucky enough to have read this installment just before the third book in the trilogy came out and so didn’t have too long to wait for the answer!

This installment works well to develop the characters in the series and perhaps cold have been worked into the first book like some have suggested but I sometimes prefer a break in the story and cannot criticize the books releasing as a trilogy! You do also need to have read Book one Where I Need to Be to fully appreciate this book!

Five steamy stars!

 Excerpts

After a few minutes, I realized that I was still alone in the shower. Brandon hadn’t returned from seeing who was at the door and that made me nervous. I quickly rinsed the soap from my body and started to turn off the water when the shower door opened and Brandon slipped in. His hard chiseled body stepped close to me as we both stood under the warm stream of water––something we did almost every night.

“Hey, what took you so long?” I asked, slipping my arms around his neck.
“Blake’s here.”
“Really?”
“Yep.” Brandon’s hands glided down my back to rest on my ass as he gave it a little tug to bring me closer to him.
“Did you know he was coming?”
“Nope, he said he needed to get away and used the plane ticket we gave him for Christmas.”
“Couldn’t he have asked? I mean, this is an important night,” I pouted as Brandon’s cock grew against my belly. I chuckled slightly. Here we were again, talking about his brother at the wrong time.
“Babe, you know how Blake is. He doesn’t always use his head,” he said, tilting his head down to place a soft kiss on my neck.
“I know,” I said, sighing. “Can he maybe get a hotel room for the night?” Of all the nights Blake could have come to visit us, it had to be tonight…the night when I wanted to wear nothing but my new ring and a smile.
“I guess, but we haven’t seen him in, what? Five months?”
“I know––you’re right. I just wanted to walk around naked for the night,” I said, biting my lower lip and giving him my most innocent smile, making his cock twitch in response.
“I’ll make it up to you another night––I promise,” Brandon groaned, bending down again as he pressed his lips to mine.
“But that other night won’t be the night you proposed and I said ‘yes’.”
“I know, Baby…” Brandon looked down at me, searching my eyes as if he was looking for some sort of answer or something. “What if we get a hotel room in the city, you call in sick tomorrow and we order room service, eat breakfast in bed and then spend the rest of the day with Blake? He can take care of Niner tonight. It will give him time to clear his head, too, since that was the reason he jumped on a plane and flew thousands of miles unannounced.”
“Well, he did come all this way. Maybe we should spend time with him?”
“No, he will understand. I’m sure he will be here longer than one night. We will hang out with him tomorrow. Plus I want to see you wearing nothing but your new ring and a smile for the rest of the night,” he said, winking at me, reading my mind.

5 star review of Anything Like Me

Finally!  We find out who was knocking at the door!  And with the unexpected visitor comes more bumps in the road in the quest for a happy ever after for Brandon and Spencer!

I have really fallen for these two and been through highs and lows and some funny times two during the last two books and was hoping that they finally get the ending they deserve!

In walks the unexpected and honestly unwanted guest, and he manages to bring out so many emotions in me.  At first I really disliked him and purely for the fact he brings yet more anguish and barriers to their relationship.

I was also drawn to the change in the mood of the relationship between Spencer and Ryan throughout this particular book (for reasons I wont divulge in case it spoils it for anyone who hasn’t yet read the books!) and or me this added a further dimension to the story too.

However, despite the events of the book and some not very wise decision-making by Brandon at times, this was a truly perfect ending to the series.  As endings go, this one made my heart melt and the final chapter was just WOW!  And then the epilogue, well that just gave me the warm and fuzzies!

Well done Kimberly on a fantastic series! Five heartwarming stars!

Review of Tattooed Dots by Kimberly Knight

5 star review

Having read and loved Kimberly’s B&S Series I was excited for the release of this new book.  The synopsis caught my eye immediately and the four new characters and a singles cruise were always going to be a recipe for a good story in my opinion and I wasn’t wrong!

We meet Easton and Avery, the rather delicious sounding owners of Halo, a bar in New York.  Both seem to have a reputation with the ladies and to be honest I can see why.  Easton is a single father to his ten-year-old daughter Cheyenne and after losing his wife tragically, has shied away from serious relationships.  He is by no means celibate but uses, then tosses the women aside.  Avery is looking for Mrs Right and suggests the cruise as a way to help him on his road to happiness.

Then enters Brooke and her single friend Nicole.  Nicole buys the cruise as a present to Brooke for her thirtieth birthday but omits to tell her it is a singles cruise until the last minute.  Brooke is stuck in a rut of a relationship with a selfish and unappreciative nerdy gamer dude by the name of Jared.

Inevitably one out of each of the pairs hit it off immediately and the other two are left as bystanders to the emerging romance.  I loved the element of knowing that potentially a second romance could blossom on the cruise and the awkwardness of the situation as the cruise comes to an end left me with a sense of anticipation.

The main part of the story actually focuses on life after the cruise and the diagnosis of a serious illness in one of the main characters.  The suspense of not knowing what was happening right along with the character added a really refreshing element to the book for me!   In fact, it got to the point where I practically pulled an all-nighter to finish the book because I HAD to find out whether things turned out ok in the end!

I really fell for Easton even though he initially came across as a totally selfish womaniser with no feelings for anyone other than himself.  His journey through the book was charming to read and the multi perspective of the book made sure that you really got to know him.  Without giving too much away, his behavior whilst on the cruise, especially the way in which he just wasn’t interested in any of the no strings attached women on the cruise, really made me believe that he was captivated and willing to change.  His relationship with his daughter also melted my heart and any man who devotes himself to his daughter like that wins it for me!

Brooke was also someone that I actually related to especially with her relationship with Jared.  I am sure that before we all meet the one there is the one relationship that you stick with out of habit almost.  Plus the journey that she has to endure through the book is so bittersweet in places and you can’t help wishing for her to catch a break!  After spending the latter part of her childhood raising her much younger sister then to be thrown into the life and relationship we find her in you really want her to come out of the book smelling of roses.  Does she? Well I’m not one for offering spoilers in a review so read it and find out!

Finally Avery and Nicole are also a big part of the story but this book in the main focuses on the will they won’t they romance of Easton and Brooke and the mountains they both have to climb to get out of the lives they have lead.  Avery and Nicole were a great side story and both great supporting friends.  The next book in the series is their book and I seriously cannot wait!

I’ve given this book a five star rating, mainly because I liked the different approach to romance it offered and also because it was nice for once not to have a book that was too angsty but still had suspense and whole lot of obstacles in the way.

Five star REVIEW of Quintessentially Q by Pepper Winters

REVIEW of Quintessentially Q by Pepper Winters

 q

Five mind blowing stars again!

So, my heart has literally been ripped out, stamped upon and rammed back in by Pepper during this part of Q and Tess’s journey.  And I’m so glad I’ve been along for the ride too.

I kind of developed an unhealthy obsession with Q in Tears of Tess and had several discussions with myself at how he is just not right to be so in awe of but holy crap I can’t hate him no matter how hard I try!

The beginning part of this book really lulled me into thinking that Tess and Q could finally make some kind of life together, especially as Tess has unequivocally given herself to Q.  But in what I’m beginning to see is usual Pepper style, BAM it all turns to crap again and this is where Q shows us all just what he is made of!

And as if Tess hadn’t been through enough already, the plot twists she has to endure are heartbreaking and at times I was ready to throw my kindle down and scream, “Why?” But yet again I was gripped from the start and couldn’t put the book down until I had devoured the lot!

Then steps in Q. I’d call him a knight in shining armour but he’s more like the devil himself in disguise in a way.  However, towards the ending of the book Q’s actions are just, well there are no words. You really need to read this book and find out for yourself but there is no doubt of his desperation and depth of feelings for Tess!

This is definitely a must read and I cannot wait for the next instalment and the ending of Tess and Q’s story!

Five mind blowing stars!

REVIEW Tears of Tess by Pepper Winters

5 Star REVIEW of Tears of Tess by Pepper Winters

 tess

Holy crap! This book gets 5 totally mind messing stars from me! What a story and Q and his damned panty melting French accent has just got me in an utter frenzy in my lady garment department!

I love dark reads and this one blew my mind! And this is one book that should come with a health warning too! Initially I was lulled into a sense that his book wasn’t going to be too bad and when we are initially introduced to Tess and you know what is coming, sort of.  But nothing could have prepared me for Tess’s journey.  This isn’t a romance novel, its dark, gritty and captivating!

Tess isn’t like the usual heroine in this book and she totally kick’s ass and is a hard nut to crack as her captor’s find out. When she is sold her new owner isn’t quite what he seems and her life with him takes many twists and turns.  It left me engrossed from the word go!

Q, oh my God Q?!  What to say apart from, “Never judge a book by its cover.”  The man has a dark side and secrets you’d probably rather not know but somehow you find yourself utterly drawn to him!  Everything screamed at my subconscious to step away from him but you just can’t!

This book for me was simply amazing!  A dark gritty read that kept me turning the pages until I had finished it! I did it in one sitting and then jumped straight into Quintessentially Q!

Five utterly mind-bending stars!

I want a Tyler! That is all!

Holy wow! I think I may have just found my next favourite book boyfriend in Tyler Conklin!

In this book we meet Becca a brokenhearted trainee architect from a priviledged background, who as well as starting a new job is turning over a new leaf in her life.  After being betrayed by her ex and her ex best friend she spends a year living it up but soon realizes it’s not the life for her.  A chance encounter initially brings her to the attention of Tyler who has his own dark secrets and hidden issues and this story is a truly gorgeous story of finding love and overcoming pasts.  I found myself utterly immersed in the developing story and loved the balance between the passion of Becca and Tyler but also loved the ups and downs of their story too.

Becca is portrayed through the book as being a sweet, meek and mild character you can’t help but like and you do feel sorry for her and her issues with self image and her annoying habit of trying to please everyone but to her own cost.  I personally identified with a lot of the emotions that she went through throughout the book.  You can’t help feeling that in a lot of ways the world is against her and I was rooting for her and felt every emotion she went through.  Although some of her choices made me a little mad at times I did whoop with joy at the end – and not for the reasons you are probably thinking either!

Tyler, well without spoiling anything, I just LOVED him. End of.  He is portrayed as a really romantic caring guy at times but with obvious issues too and it takes a lot for him to open up and be the man Becca wants and needs him to be.  Again though there were times I felt like leaning into the book and slapping him one but he always seemed to do something to redeem himself to me!

The chemistry and attraction between both Becca and Tyler is amazing to behold but don’t be under the illusion that this is a happy straight-forward romance novel.  It will have you laughing, crying, groaning in utter frustration and will keep you gripped until the bitter end.  So much comes between them and you will be left wondering whether they will actually make it through.

I also loved the other characters in the book too and loved how each of them had shaped Becca and Tyler into the characters from which they both fought hard to break free.

The ending leaves you satisfied but with a lot of unresolved questions and I SERIOULSY cannot wait to read Conklin’s Foundation – the Prologue is in the back of the book and my attention was seriously sparked after reading it!

5 Freakingly amazing stars!
