review

For this event I have read and reviewed all four of the Love Series books including Let Me Love You all of which I’m going to post here!

Trying Not To Love You (Book #1) Five star review!

OMG WHAT A CLIFFHANGER and seriously had I not started reading this as part of the blog tour for book four in this series I would seriously be hunting Megan down and shouting at her for leaving it like that!!!

Anyway, back to the issue at hand and my review…

We meet Kenzie (later known as CC) who has been in love with Hunter for forever. Problem is he is best of friends with her twin brothers and we all know how overbearing and protective they can be! And therein lies the major roadblock to true love!!

This story isn’t what you actually expect from the blurb in a lot of ways and although you do know the feeling of attraction between Hunter and Kenzie is mutual the path of true love doesn’t run smoothly. In fact far from it and the addition of Dominic, Kenzie’s Boyfriend, in to the mix guarantees things will never be straight-forward!

It is a great mix of funny, sweet and angsty and I actually love the way Megan writes too. The dynamic between Kenzie and Hunter is addictive (swoonworthy and steamy too) and you really feel like you know and are part of the characters lives when reading it!

The ending of the book was, well let me just say unexpected and OMG (I’ll say it again) OMG I’m just glad book two is already out!

On that note I’m off now to devour the next book and et some freaking closure!!!

Five “OM freaking G” stars from me!

Easy To Love You (Book #2) Five Star Review

Well thankfully for Megan, this book picks up right where the last one left and we are thrown into the ongoing story of CC and Hunter and the crap storm surrounding the ending in the last book. Oh how I want to say more but for anyone who hasn’t read this series I will try my bet to review this without spoiling it!

We learn an awful lot more about Hunter and his background in this book along with a web of deceit and lies that has shadowed both CC’s and Hunters lives so far. This book goes a long way to explaining why CC’s brothers are so overbearing and also gives us an insight into Mason and his feelings too. This is important as this leads us into the next book (his and Hailey’s story).

I have loved the continuation of the story and also how this book really develops a lot of the characters other than Hunter and CC and also it throws I a few well-placed curveballs too!

This instalment has had me in tears, laughing and also as frustrated as anything at the actions of particularly Hunter and especially CC who for goodness sake needs a slap and tethering to Hunter – she runs faster than winner in the 100m sprint at times and she really got my goat! Although when Hunter is being, well Hunter, you can’t actually blame her!

I loved this sort of conclusion to Hunter and CC’s story and hope that in the next books in the series we get to see more of them. One character I wish would disappear is Brittany though but I have the feeling she is more involved than anyone would like her to be!!! Now we need to tackle part three – Mason and Hailey’s story…!

Another 5 star read for me!

Hard to Love You (Book #3) Five star review

Well well well we now get to see a lot more inside Mason’s head and get to see what makes him tick a lot batter and honestly, I didn’t actually like what I saw for a lot of it!!

Hailey has a past. A pretty horrid past and we know a little of what she has had to cope with but we truly find out how deeply she is affected by a mix of her flashbacks and her insecurities! We also find hidden secrets between her and Mason too and realize just how deep the two of them are in it!

She is taken well and truly under the wing of the Cahills and knows that they will do anything to get each other’s back. This is until Mason hears something and will go to every length to try and protect his family, including losing her.

And you know what? The secret isn’t as groundbreaking as you might expect and certainly not worth losing your soul mate over. This is the first of Megan’s books where I felt like truly flinging my kindle in the pool (yes I’m on holiday and oh yes it was so tempting at times to launch the flaming thing in the water!).

Mason. Mason, Mason… – he had a lot of crap to go through in this book and also made a crap tonne of mistakes but aside from that I think Hailey seems to have caught the speedy 100m running bug from her BFF because she rarely hung around either to let the dust settle and hear Mason out.

Although I found it uber frustrating being a spectator in the disaster that was Hailey and Mason I did love the insight into the other characters and in particular the wedding (wont tell you whose – read the darn book for that!) and more about a lot of the other side characters too!

Oh and Lily can also just do one and bugger off too!

I ummed and ahhhed about what to rate this instalment but in the end I’m still seething over some of the things that happened in the book and to be honest that tipped the balance to leaving it a five star review – mainly because damn you Megan the ending was fab but I’m still annoyed at Mason!

Let Me Love You (Book #4) Four star review

You have got to be kidding me – another flaming cliffhanger!! And this time I’m having to wait to read the next book! Frustrated much?!

I have loved the snippets that we have already seen of this couple though and Jay and Cooper are obviously so into each other but you find out a lot more in this book as to why Cooper holds himself back.

Jay has been hiding something from everyone and once you finally realise just what she has had to handle, you can’t help but be sympathetic. She is so strong and at times during this book I was proud of how she just dusted herself off and was strong enough to just keep going! At last! A girl with balls!

Cooper on the other hand has serious issues and I was getting as frustrated with him as I was with Mason in the last book! What is it with these stupid Cahill men and their emotional flaming reservations! Get some backbones and grow a pair of hairy ones!!

I have loved the fact that the other characters feature really heavily in all of the books and although tis particular storyline was probably the most frustrating one for me yet (and with the next book a long way off I’m still reeling a little here!) I think it is redeemed a bit with the highlights of the new additions to the respective families and the peek that we get into the others lives too!

I think for me this is going to go down as a four star read this time – I think mainly because I need closure and am not happy at having to wait yet again on a cliffhanger but also because as I mentioned earlier this was by far the most frustrating of the books so far!

4 very frustrated but happy stars!

Excerpt:

“Yo man, have you seen Jay?” I ask Eli who came to the party with us.
He shakes his head, “Last I saw she was sitting on the couch over there with Kevin.”
My stomach drops. Kevin’s the campus drug dealer. He used to be a tight end for the football team in our freshman year at college but was kicked off the team after drugs were found in his dorm. He’s from New Jersey too, but he lived up north and actually went to high school with Eli in Hoboken. Eli said he used to be really popular until he started hanging out with the wrong crowd.
I drop my arm from around Courtney, the girl I was planning on taking home, and go to try and find Jaylinn. Fuck, I knew I shouldn’t have brought her with me but I couldn’t tell her no. All that girl has to do is bat her eye lashes
and I’d cave.
I search the whole downstairs of the frat house for her and Kevin but they are nowhere to be seen. Panic starts to set in, chilling me to the bone. I race up the stairs, three on the right, three on the left and one straight back. The first door opens and some guy is standing there that I don’t recognize, pulling a shirt over his head. I check the bed to make sure Jaylinn isn’t there. I do this to the next five doors; all were opened and occupied but Jaylinn wasn’t in any of them. I get to the last door on the left; it’s dark so I reach around the wall for a light switch. I flick it on and the room is empty.
“Where the fuck is she?” I roar.
I slam the door shut and stamp to the last door. My heart rate spikes causing a swooshing sound in my ears, my body shakes with rage. I turn the door knob, it’s locked. I bang on it, “Jaylinn,” Nothing, complete silence.
Something isn’t right. My stomach knots and I try banging on the door a few times, hoping someone is just passed out and can’t hear me. After a minute I can’t take it anymore and I ram my shoulder into the door. Once, twice, and finally it gives way.
My heart stops, I can’t breathe and my vision blurs.
