SYNOPSIS
Most would view Dylan’s life as a living Hell, but she discovered what Hell really was.
Twenty year old, Dylan was minding her own business when twenty-six year old Ethan sat down at her table. All she wanted was peace from her past. He offered her the protection and calm she had never known. That was until she learned how much of that past he was a part of.
If life had taught Dylan Summers anything it was that not everyone gets a happily ever after.

J.W. is a stay at home mom with 2 on-the-go kids, an amazing husband, and 1 loveable dog. She lives in a small town in Tennessee, where she enjoys writing, reading, and talking. She was told from a young age that her dreams of writing were ludicrous.
However, after a talk with her daughter she pulled out her old laptop and rediscovered her desire to tell stories. She doesn’t consider herself an author, more a teller of tall tales.

REVIEW of Innocent Lies by J W Phillips
*ARC provided in exchange for an honest review*
Well I finished this book a good few hours ago and my mind is still reeling! This has been one heck of a story and I feel totally emotionally wrung out right now! It has been a long time since a book has effected me like this and the emotional roller coaster I’ve been on has been immense!
The story concept is really interesting and well thought out! I really enjoyed the twists and turns of the plot and throughout the book there are a few unexpected revelations and surprises. I love Ethan but then again I’m kind of drawn to the bad boy male leads anyway and the more we learn about him the harder fell for him. Good looking, strong, confident, somewhat mysterious to begin with and totally loaded but as with many male lead he has his faults and one big one in particular which is quite fundamental to the plot!
I also think the concept of the diary style writing of the book worked well as the story takes place over a relatively long period of time and it works to cut back and forth to fill to the story. The only one thing that I feel let the story down for me personally (and what didn’t quite make it a 5 star read) was the fact I struggled a bit to relate to Dylan. She was a tad annoying and her hot and cold reaction towards Ethan and the various events that take place really began to annoy me by the end. She runs in some places at the drop of a hat but then when she had big revelations dropped on her she seemingly falls deeper in love with Ethan and it really irked me. She started out as a promisingly strong character but towards the end I was frustrated, well until the end! And holy moley I DID NOT see that coming!
This gets a strong four stars from me and I seriously cannot wait for the next instalment to see if and how the story develops. I REALLY WANT TO SAY MORE but hate leaving reviews with spoiler in. I would definitely urge you to give this a go! I would also love to see more of the side characters, especially both of Dylan’s housemates!
FOUR utterly mind messing stars from me! Roll on august for the next one!
